Where do I begin?
You're at a great starting place right here. Next step? Call one of our recruiters or send an e-mail right now, day or night. They are always working! Just kidding. If they are not available, they will get back to you, tell you why Anderson University is a great place to be, answer your questions, and help you make the best decision for you. We hope it will be AU, but if not, we will encourage you to find the right place to finish your degree.
I don't live close to Anderson, but I'd like to get my degree from AU. Is that possible?
It may be possible. You'll need to talk to us about this one. It depends on what major you want, how many hours transfer, your desire and ability to take online courses, and a few other things. We'll be glad to talk you through this. If you're thinking about our Organizational Leadership or Christian Leadership majors or if you were a student at Anderson University before and just need to finish up, it is quite possible.
Are students able to earn credits for prior learning?
We have a few students who have done this, so the answer isn't no. However, it is not something that happens often on our campus. We allow CLEP testing and assign credit for learning experiences documented in the ACE Guide, but writing papers for prior learning credit involves a lot of work and evaluation from an academic department chair. It's not easy to earn credits through prior learning.
What is the difference between traditional and accelerated classes?
Traditional classes are typically scheduled for the entire 15-16 week semester. Accelerated classes are very intense, meeting only four, five, or six weeks depending upon the credit hours. Students are most successful when they take only one of these classes at a time. The preparation for accelerated classes is heavy and requires a lot of work outside of class. These classes are challenging and require commitment, but they can done. You can do it!
Are my books included in the cost of tuition?
Book costs are not included in tuition. We've talked a lot about the convenience of having books shipped to students and the cost involved. So, for our cohort programs, we've decided to let you choose. You can have your books auto-shipped to you by our bookstore or you can purchase them on campus or buy them from any online vendors. Starting in the fall, ISBN numbers will be available to make this an easy process, but having them auto-shipped from our bookstore is a convenience to consider. You don't have to think about it, you don't have to search, and you can charge them to your account.
Is AU accredited?
Yes. Anderson University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, North Central Association; Web address: www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org; (312) 263-0456.
How much do classes cost?
Tuition for the School of Adult Learning is $340 per credit hour for the 2010-2011 school year. Depending on your program, there may be additional costs. Cohorts have a materials fee and traditional nursing and student teaching courses have additional costs. Tuition for traditional nursing and student teaching classes is at the traditional tuition rate.
Will my credits transfer from another college or university?
We accept credits from any regionally accredited college or university as long as a "C" or better was earned. If you are not sure about the accreditation, give us a call and our assessment counselor will check it out for you.
How do I get my transcripts from high school and other colleges?
The admissions application includes transcript request forms. Check with your high school and previous colleges to see if you need to pay for transcripts. Then send the forms to the schools. They will send the transcripts directly to us. If you pick them up, do not open the envelope. Transcripts must be sealed to be official.
How will I know what transfers to AU?
Once you have completed the admissions process, your transcripts will be evaluated. Our assessment counselor will meet with you by phone, online, or in person to discuss transfer credits and what you need to graduate.
Do I qualify for financial aid?
We can't answer this question for you. You need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for that to be determined.
