Transition to Teaching (TIP)

The Teach for Indiana Program (TIP) is intended for an individual who has a desire to become a teacher. This program has been specifically designed to recruit, prepare, and license talented individuals for teaching. Candidates must have a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a GPA of 3.0 overall and in their major area of study or a GPA of 2.5 overall and in their major, with five years of professional experience. Candidates may select either elementary (K-6) or secondary (5-12) tracts. Candidates must pass a rigorous screening process which includes national tests, an interview, and a review of teaching-related experiences.

TIP Program Features

Entrance Requirements

No teacher candidate may be enrolled in student teaching until all entrance and licensing exams have been successfully completed.

Schedule for Exam Completion
Entrance Exams Must be completed prior to beginning course work on Sept. 3, 2013

PRAXIS I Reading, Writing, and Mathematics (pass all sections or have a composite score of 527 or better) OR

ACT with a score of at least 24 based on Math, Reading, Grammar, and Science OR

SAT with a score of at least 1100 based on Critical Reading and Math OR

GRE with a score of at least 1100 based on Verbal and Quantitative

Entrance exam exception: Anyone with a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
Content Exams Must be completed prior to beginning course work on Sept. 3, 2013
Pedagogy Exams Must be completed prior to beginning student teaching on Feb. 3, 2013

Application Deadline

Applicants interested in the Teach for Indiana Program at Anderson University for the academic year beginning Fall 2013-2014 should submit all requirements on or before June 15, 2013 with an application fee of $50.

Program Costs

  • Application Fee: $50 (non-refundable)
  • Tuition: $10,300 (2013-2014)
  • Textbooks: To be determined (cost not included in tuition)
