Additional Class Information

Graduate School Grading Criteria:

  • The minimum passing grade in any class is a C. Anderson University requires a graduate student to maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA in all courses applicable to the degree. The School of Education’s Graduate Studies Program holds a higher standards and requires all students maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPA in all courses applicable to an M.Ed.
  • Students with a cumulative GPA lower than 3.0 will be placed on academic probation. After two semesters on probation, students may be dropped from the program. A final decision will be made by the vice president for academic affairs.
  • A graduate student may choose to repeat a course in which the earned grade was a C+ or lower. The second grade will apply to the GPA.

Course Withdrawals: When withdrawing from a course, the refund schedule is:

90 % Week One 80 % Week Two 
60 % Week Three 40 % Week Four
20 % Week Five 0 % after Week Five

Grade Appeals: Students who believe they have not been graded fairly and wish to appeal must initiate that appeal process within 30 days after the grade has been received. The appeals process consists of the following steps:

  1. Discuss the grade in question with the instructor.
  2. Consult with the Director of Graduate Studies in Education.
  3. Consult with the Dean of the School of Education.
  4. Contact the Director of Graduate Studies in Education, who serves as the Chair of  the appeals committee. In the event of a hearing, the Chair will appoint an appeals committee consisting of one graduate student and three faculty members from the SOE.
