Curriculum and Instruction Program

The Anderson University Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction is designed for the working teacher. Teachers can usually complete the 36-credit-hour program in 24 months. Core courses (24 credit hours) are offered during the fall, spring and summer terms, taken in sequence over four terms. Elective courses (12 credit hours) are offered during the summer.

The Curriculum and Instruction program is designed around the cohort model whereby 10 to 16 practicing teachers pursue the program together. Students usually enroll in three hours per term during the school year and six to 12 hours during the summer. The fall and spring terms are 12 weeks; summer courses are usually two weeks in length. Students may join a cohort group in either September or January, depending on enrollment.

The program is designed to professionalize the teaching license in Indiana and is approved by the Indiana Professional Standards Board. For information regarding professionalizing a teaching license, contact the License Advisor in the School of Education at (765) 641-4052.
