LEAD Program
The Anderson University LEAD Program focuses on service leadership and a practical, real-world application of school leadership for effective schools in a diverse and changing world. Lead Programs offered are:
- Master of Education in School Leadership and Administration
- Licensing in School Leadership and Administration

Framework
- Model:
- Cohort group of aspiring school leaders.
- Courses:
- 36 credit hours; 12 courses, 3 credit hours each
- 30 core credits, 6 elective credits
- 32 months (3 school years with two summers)
- Entrance:
- Undergraduate GPA 3.0 with two years teaching experience or 2.75 GPA with five years teaching experience.
- 3.5 GPA in previous graduate work
- Personal statement and three letters of reference (with application)
- Interview
- Internship:
- Two successive semesters following all other coursework; includes elementary and secondary experiences.
- License Renewal Only:
- Ten core classes (30 credit hours); may transfer up to six approved comparable core credits.
- Exit:
- Successful completion of the IASP Aspiring Principal professional development
- Successful completion of a School Leadership Portfolio
- Successful completion of the School Leadership Licensure Assessment (SLLA)
State License: School Administration & Supervision, K-12
Design
Program: Best practices in school leadership are infused with field-based experiences and offered in a cohort model.
Schedule: Courses are specifically designed for the educator’s busy schedule.
Length: Three school years (32 months with two summers).
Quality
Rigor: Comprehensive and practical experiences develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions for school leadership.
Instruction: High quality, practitioner-based, seminar-style courses.
Curriculum: Leadership, education issues, supervision of instruction, the school and community, research, school finance, facilities, and school law.
Field Experience: Practical field-based school leadership experiences embedded in all courses; an internship is served the final two semesters while continuing your work.
Service
Personal Service from the program director, program assistant, instructors, and personal mentor/adviser.
Accessibility to university personnel, instructors, classes, technology, materials, and on-campus parking.
Cost
Competitive tuition rates and fee structure; pay for classes as you take them; tuition locks at the rate of your first fall class.
