Transition to Teaching
An Alternative Route to Licensure for Career Changers.

What is the program design?

The program is designed as a two-phase process. Phase I is a nine-month intensive program of educational coursework and field experiences which when successfully completed leads to an Indiana teaching license.

Phase II culminates, should the candidate desire, in a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree. 12 hours of electives from the TIP coursework are credited to the 36 hours required for the MASTER’S degree. The two-phases are intended to equip the teacher for the classroom and provide continued support and professional development. The TIP/Master of Education program allows candidates to combine licensure course requirements with the M.Ed. degree.
