The mission of the Anderson University School of Theology is to educate at the graduate professional level both men and women for Christian ministry. Specialization in Student Ministry

  1. Each course you take will require you to recruit a small group of adults and teach them for five hours. You will teach them information you learned in that course.
  2. Each course you take will require that you travel to campus for ten hours of face-to-face interaction in the classroom with your instructor and other students in the course.
  3. You must achieve a grade of “C-” or above in all classes, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  4. There are 48 hours required in this degree. Courses are listed here in the order they should be taken:

First Year, Fall Semester:

  • Orientation to Online Graduate Theological Studies
  • Literature and History of the Old Testament I
  • Constructive Theology I
  • First Year, Spring Semester:

  • Literature and History of the Old Testament II
  • Constructive Theology II
  • Church of God Reformation Movement (or your Denominational History in the Summer)
  • First Year, Summer:

  • The LOGOS Ministry (This course can be taken Spring semester if you are not Church of God)
  • Your Denominational History (if you are not Church of God)
  • Leading, Teaching, and Discipling Children


  • Second Year, Fall Semester:

  • Literature and History of the New Testament I
  • History of the Christian Church
  • Clinical Pastoral Education (one-half unit) - or - Mentoring (one credit hour per semester for three semesters, during any three semesters of your choice)
  • Second Year, Spring Semester:

  • Literature and History of the New Testament II
  • Ethics for the Vocation of Ministry
  • Second Year, Summer:

  • Leading, Teaching, and Discipling Youth
  • Third Year, Fall Semester:

  • Biblical Foundations of Mission
  • Capstone: Practice of Children's Ministry - or - Practice of Youth Ministry
