The mission of the Anderson University School of Theology is to educate at the graduate professional level both men and women for Christian ministry. To this end, we are committed to being a community of scholars who are church-related, and in whose character and servanthood the following are vitally linked: biblical faith, academic integrity, Christian spirituality, love for persons; and a responsible relation with the created order and all humankind.

Personalized Distance Learning

Through the Personalized Distance Learning (PDL) program, students may enroll in courses and take them in their own homes or other places of study at their own pace. PDL uses print, audio, video, and computer communications. PDL courses are noted in the Course Descriptions section in this catalog.

The following criteria apply to PDL courses:

  • Students register for PDL courses during Semester I, Semester II, or the Summer Term, and have until the end of that semester or term to complete those courses. The first PDL course must be completed before registering for additional courses.
  • PDL students may take up to 24 graduate hours of seminary courses without relocating. A limited number of credit hours may be applied toward a degree.
  • Anyone who wishes to take courses for credit must apply for admission to the School of Theology. Courses are geared toward students with baccalaureate degrees.
