Answering God’s call for missions, I came to the seminary from Mexico. The Master of Arts in Intercultural Service degree will help me improve the ways I can serve the community while learning to see the world from a wider viewpoint. The cultural diversity in the SOT has been a blessing. The AU SOT has made my experience as an international student feel like home.

It is nothing short of amazing that I "just can't seem to get enough" since I began this adventure. I can't wait to get home from work to read and learn more. I have been on this spiritual journey for almost 50 years, have read the Bible completely through several times, but this adventure of combining the spiritual life and intellectual life in a deeper more meaningful way has excited and challenged me like nothing else in many, many years.

As a minister in Guam for five years, I knew I needed more training if I was going to continue in vocational ministry. Coming into the SOT, I found significant financial help, accessible faculty, and many opportunities to network with peers and ministry leaders. I value the relationships that I am developing here. I have definitely experienced the Lord shaping me in new ways as a result of my time at the AU SOT.

As a full-time youth pastor, I started in the AU School of Theology because I was looking to stretch and educate my thinking. I am encouraged by what I am learning because it applies to my teaching. I am learning about what an academic journey of faith looks like and how it can transform my relationship with Christ. I came seeking an academic experience, but so much more is taking place.

When I tell people I am in seminary, they often respond with sympathy because they think all I do is read about what old theologians have to say about God and that what I’m learning has no practical value. This is not the case at the Anderson University School of Theology because the faculty blends rigorous academic work with practical ministry involvement that challenges us to discover the real-world implications for what we are learning in class.
