Seminary Completes Accreditation Self-study

The School of Theology, as well as Anderson University, has completed work for reaccredition with both the Higher Learning Commission and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). The seminary degrees have been accredited by ATS since 1965. The seminary must complete a self-study every 10 years as part of its accreditation. The seminary completed its self-study around a number of ATS criteria focused on theological education and its delivery. The seminary examined its purpose, planning, and evaluation; institutional integrity; learning, teaching, and research; theological curriculum; library and information resources; faculty structure; recruitment and student services; governance; institutional resources; and distance education. The entire seminary faculty and staff were involved in the nearly year-long discussion and initial writing of the self-study document. John Aukerman, professor of Christian education and director of distance education, and David Neidert, director of seminary advancement, served as co-chairs in writing the final draft. Barry Callen, former seminary dean and editor of AU Press, added editorial touches to this document. The ATS, after reading the written report, will send a delegation to visit the campus for discussion and additional review around the contents of the study. The campus visit is scheduled for December 2008. |
