ALL STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO CARRY HEALTH INSURANCE
Most of you will continue to be covered by plans provided by employers or purchased for your family. Some of you because of age, marital status or other reasons may no longer qualify for your family’s plan. If this is the case, you should contact Human Resources, Decker Hall 11, (765) 641-4130 for more information. Additional information on student health insurance can be found online.
If you are covered on a family plan that is a high deductible plan, or if that plan is an HMO or a managed care plan we encourage you to consider the student health plan. If you are covered by a high deductible plan, the student health insurance plan may help by providing coverage before you reach your family plan deductible. If you are covered by a HMO or managed care plan verify your coverage extends to this geographic area; if not, we encourage you to purchase the student health insurance. International students are required to carry approved health insurance coverage while away from home.
Effective August 15, 2011: Undergraduate students under age 26 and enrolled for a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester are provided basic accident only insurance. A maximum medical benefit of $10,000 per accident is payable after a $25 per incident deductible. This coverage provides benefits secondary to family insurance. For additional information or claims procedures, contact Human Resources, Decker Hall 11.
