The Anderson University women’s basketball team was selected to finish third in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference pre-season coaches poll released on Monday.

Anderson University and Tweener Ministries are partnering to sponsor a graphic design contest for teen artists that will support a new chapter book authored by a teen writer. AU will award a $44,000 scholarship ($11,000 each year for four years) to the winning graphic artist. Baker Trittin Press will publish the winning cover art on the published book. The graphic design contest is open to students enrolled in grades 9-12, including homeschoolers.
Anderson University welcomes Harvey Carey to the campus for Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW), October 23-25. Harvey Carey is the founder and Lead Pastor of the Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, Michigan. The Anderson University office of Spiritual Life and Counseling Services sponsors SEW once each year to offer students and the community an opportunity for worship and study with an off-campus speaker.
A skilled communicator, Pastor Carey is known internationally for his remarkable ability to communicate the transforming Word of God. One of his greatest passions in ministry is reaching “hopeless” individuals with the message of Jesus Christ.
Anderson University student athlete and graduate Peter Whiting was named the 2007 Carl D. Erskine Award of Excellence winner on Tuesday at the Anderson Rotary Club meeting at the Anderson Country Club.
The Center for Character Development (CCD) at Anderson University, the City of Anderson and Anderson Community Schools will celebrate National Character Counts! Week with community events and school programs between October 14-21, 2007. Under the theme “Celebrating the Character of Madison County,” the week’s festivities will focus on the people, places and images that make Anderson and Madison County such a unique and special place.
Anderson University dedicated the second phase of its York Seminary Village with a ceremony during Homecoming events Saturday.
Three new brick colonial buildings became available to seminary students this academic year, completing the group of apartments located on Walnut Street between Sixth and Seventh streets. The first phase of the village was dedicated in August 2006.
The village’s seven buildings contain 18 apartments for students and their families, as well as a community center with a walkway encircling a central plaza.
Anderson University students past, present and probably future gathered along University Boulevard Saturday for the Ravenfest street fair.
Held as part of AU’s Homecoming weekend, the fair included students selling everything from cookies to dates with college-aged men to raise money for their various campus organizations.
Junior Meredith Christopfel was manning a booth selling T-shirts and work by students artists. She said she appreciated having a relaxing setting in which to celebrate the university’s traditions.
Former Raven athletes Robert Adcock, Miriam (Garner) England, Frank Runion and James Wehsollek were inducted into the Anderson University Athletic Hall of Fame as the Class of 2007 on Saturday night at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.
The Anderson University women’s tennis team finished in fourth place at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at the West Indy Raquet Club in Indianapolis.
Anderson University will honor distinguished alumni during the Homecoming chapel/convocation on Thursday, October 11, at 10 a.m. in Reardon Auditorium. Persons to be honored are David L. Coolidge (Distinguished Alumni Award); Ken & Mendy Nehrbass (Distinguished Young Alumni Award); H.L. Baker (Distinguished Service Award); Loren & Elouise Sutton (John H. Kane Loyalty Award); Paul Yerden (Outstanding Music Award); and Caitlyn Krontz (Alumni Council Scholarship). Anderson University’s 2007 Homecoming celebration is scheduled for October 12-13.
