‘The Last Five Years’ runs at AU, next month in Indy

last5.jpgLove a person or love a career, but loving both can cause problems. That is the lesson for a young couple in “The Last Five Years,” Anderson University Theater Department’s latest solid offering, this time in a nicely modified Byrum Hall.

The one-act musical by Jason Robert Brown tells the story of Jamie and Cathy in nonlinear chronology. It opens at the end of their five-year relationship with a beaten down Cathy discovering a note from Jamie; he is leaving her. A second later, a jubilant Jamie walks in singing during the pair’s first date.

Volleyball team partners with Colts for charity

VBColts_web.jpgFive Anderson University women’s volleyball players partnered with the Indianapolis Colts organization and former Colts’ players last Sunday to kick off the Change for America’s Babies campaign, a coin drive to help the organization raise funds in the fight to improve the health of babies.

Ann Baltz in residence at AU’s School of Music

baltz.jpgFounder and Artistic Director of the nationally acclaimed performance training program OperaWorks, Ann Baltz will be offering four free classes on improvisation for classical musicians on Nov. 15 and 16 at the AU School of Music.

On Thursday Baltz will offer a Performance Techniques Master class at 12 p.m. and an Improvisation Master class at 1 p.m. in the Krannert Fine Arts Center. On Friday she is offering “Improvisation in Performance and ‘Flip Side: When Good Opera Goes Bad’” at 3 p.m.; and “Teaching Outside the Box—Improvisation: How to incorporate improvisation to facilitate learning by discovery” at 4 p.m.

Colts honor AU faculty member for service activities

Colts1.jpgThe Indianapolis Colts recently honored Dr. Mark Motluck, assistant professor of Accounting and Business in the Falls School of Business at Anderson University as a part of their 2007 Colts Community Quarterback Award program. The program is designed to recognize Colts season ticket holders who have demonstrated outstanding service to their community through volunteerism. Anthony Gonzalez, Wide Receiver for the Indianapolis Colts, presented the award to 25 deserving recipients.

AU women open 2007-08 season with Tip-Off Tournament

Students learn investments management hands-on

fsbstudents.jpgThe Anderson University Falls School of Business (FSB) recently announced that students will have the opportunity to invest $100,000 as part of a senior level investments class. The Raven Fund will allow students to learn how to manage an investment fund through a real-world experience. Each semester, a senior-level class of about 10 students will take control of the fund, deciding how to invest the money.
