AU women make it 6 straight HCAC titles

HCAC_womenweb.jpgThe Anderson University women’s cross country team won its sixth straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday at Hanover College.

The Ravens easily defeated runner-up Franklin by a score of 31-67 by finishing with four of the top seven runners.

Gwen Kemple won the individual race in a time of 21:52 easily defeating the runner-up from Rose-Hulman by 1:28. Also finishing in the top 12 and thus being named All-Conference were Angela Boggs (4th, 23:38), Laura Lash (5th, 23:53) and Erica Moffitt (7th, 24:17).

Other AU finishers in the race were Tammy Michaelis (14th, 24:56), Mollie Ringer (15th, 25:01), Jenny Loerop (19th, 25:14), Stephanie Dylus (32nd, 26:01), Abby Cochran (36th, 26:10), Leeann Lower (37th, 26:14), Erika Gilts (44th, 26:40), Rena St. Clair (55th, 27:54) and Jenna Zmikly (56th, 28:07).

“Our ladies went after it and ran strong races,” said AU coach Scott Wilson, who was named HCAC Coach of the Year. “Their preparation and had work showed itself today.”

AU runs in the NCAA Div. III Regional at Calvin on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m.
