Kemple 2nd; AU women 8th at Great Lakes Regional
November 10th, 2007
The Anderson University women’s cross country team finished eighth at the 36-team Great Lakes Regional on Saturday at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Senior Gwen Kemple was the runner-up individually in a time of 21:31.95 and will advance to the national meet next Saturday in St. Olaf, Minn.
“It’s a great accomplishment and this is her first time going to the national meet,” AU coach Scott Wilson said of Kemple. “One of her goals is to be an All-American and she has a chance. If she runs like she did today, she has a great chance to be in the top 35.”
Other AU finishers at the regional were Laura Lash (38th, 23:10.20), Angela Boggs (52nd, 23:30.80), Erica Moffitt (72nd, 23:53.05), Tammy Michaelis (80th, 24:06.05), Mollie Ringer (96th, 24:25.35) and Jenny Loerop (136th, 25:14.55).
“I was proud of our girls and they ran a good race,” said Wilson.
