Panthers end volleyball season in HCAC semifinal

The Anderson University volleyball team defeated No. 6 seed Transylvania in three games, but lost to No. 1 Hanover in four games on Saturday in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament at Hanover College.
The Ravens defeated the Pioneers in the quarterfinal match by scores of 35-33, 30-26 and 30-24, but lost in the semifinal round to the Panthers 30-26, 30-27, 29-31 and 30-17.
Against Transylvania, Jessica Berlin led the Ravens with 14 kills, 15 digs and two blocks. Whitney Osborn and Laura Baden had 12 kills each and Carol Weatherford added 10 kills. Baden also had eight blocks and Weatherford three service aces.
Kasey Bollier had 49 assists, two blocks and Caitlin Morency had 15 digs. Emily Bell added 11 digs and Tara Denham seven kills.
Against Hanover, Osborn had 14 kills, eight digs two blocks and Berlin 14 kills and eight digs. Baden had 11 kills, two blocks and Weatherford seven kills and five blocks.
Bollier added 44 assists, Morency 23 digs, Bell eight digs and Denham three service aces.
AU finishes the season 17-14 overall and 6-2 in the HCAC.
