Women’s tennis team splits HCAC pair

The Anderson University women’s tennis team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Franklin 7-2 on Saturday, but rebounded to defeat Bluffton 9-0 in the nightcap.

Against Franklin, Rachel Makin (6-3, 6-3) and Becky Curtis (6-2, 4-6, 1-0) each won at No. 1 and No. 5 singles to account for the two Raven points.

Against Bluffton, Makin won at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles with Curtis. Other double winners were Mandy Hackney (No. 3 singles, No. 2 doubles) and Jessie Rigby (No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles).

Also winning for the Ravens were Katelyn Boes (No. 2 singles) and Emily Thompson (No. 5 singles) and they also won their No. 3 doubles match by forfeit.

AU (3-6, 2-3 HCAC) travels to Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday at 3 p.m.
