AU’s Nagy, Young, Hudson win HCAC weekly awards

athletics1.jpgAnderson University’s Amanda Nagy, Sean Hudson and Cody Young have been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week in women’s track, men’s track and baseball, respectively.

Nagy finished second place in the 100 and 200 meters at the Indiana Little State meet last Saturday at IUPUI, posting a time of 12.63 in the 100 meters, while finishing the 200 meters in 25.71.

Hudson finished second in the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters at the Indiana Little State meet this past weekend.  The senior finished in a time of 3:59.16 in the 1,500 meters and posted a time of 15:16.93 in the 5,000 meters.

Young finished the week with a .500 average at the plate, including a double, two home runs, six RBI during the three game stretch. The sophomore had a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game against Manchester on Friday and added a two RBI double in the 11th to tie the game again as AU went on to win 9-8 in 12 innings.

Anderson (17-9, 7-3 HCAC) sits in a first place tie with Mount St. Joseph at the top of the conference standings as the two teams will meet for a three game series this weekend at Raven Park on Friday and Saturday.
