Baseball team powers past HCAC leading Grizzlies 9-1

Pence_web.jpgThe Anderson University baseball team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Franklin College 9-1 on Tuesday in the home opener at Raven Park.

Kevin Pence earned the victory on the mound, going seven innings and allowing only two hits and a run while striking out seven and walking four.

Cody Young led the Raven offense with two hits, two runs and two RBI, including a double and a home run.

Brad Lantz had two hits, two runs and two RBI, including a double and Justin Decker had two hits, two runs and an RBI, including a triple.

Chris Jarrett had a triple, RBI, run and stolen base and David Addington and Eric Smith each added two hits.

AU (10-6, 3-1 HCAC) travels to Div. I Ball State on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The game will be carried live on the internet broadcast from Ball Diamond in Muncie.
