Football, basketball surfaces get a facelift

Macholtz Stadium and O.C. Lewis Gymnasium got a much needed facelift over the summer and are now ready for the 2008-09 athletic seasons.
The football team practiced on its new synthetic turf field for the first time on Friday morning. The new field turf was installed this summer and just completed this week
AU opens the regular season at Macholtz Stadium against arch-rival Taylor University on Sept. 6. The game will be carried live on the internet broadcast at 7 p.m.
The basketball floor also received a makeover this summer. The official Raven logo was placed at center court and the nickname was added to both baselines.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams open the 2008-09 seasons in mid-November. The men host Alma on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m., while the women tip-off the season on Nov. 21 at Robert Morris at 8 p.m.
