Men’s tennis team splits HCAC doubleheader

The Anderson University men’s tennis team opened the 2008 season on Saturday by splitting a pair of matches with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes Bluffton and Hanover, defeating the Beavers 6-2, but falling to the Panthers 5-0.
Against Bluffton, Tim Cantwell, Kai McCurdy and Jake Tandy all won two matches to lead the Ravens.
Cantwell won at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-4) and teamed with Chris Rowe at No. 1 doubles (8-2) to also emerge victorious.
McCurdy won at No. 2 singles by scores of 6-3, 6-2 and partnered up with Jake Tandy at No. 2 doubles to win by a score of 8-3. Tandy earned his other point at No. 5 singles by scores of 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
Zach McCurdy accounted for the final AU point by winning No. 4 singles in straight sets by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
