April 26th, 2008
The Anderson University men’s track and field team saw its streak of 13 consecutive championships come to an end as they finished second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday and Saturday at Macholtz Stadium.
Rose-Hulman edged the Ravens 199-193 in the meet with Defiance (97) third followed by Franklin (74), Manchester (63), Mt. St. Joseph (61), Bluffton (46) and Hanover (45).
Garrett Zick led the Ravens, winning both the 200 meters (22.42) and 400 meters (49.25) as well as being a member of both winning relay teams (400 in 42.85 and 1,600 in 3:20.28).
Others winners for the Ravens were E.J. Cripe in the 100 meters (10.91), Sean Hudson in the 1,500 meters (4:01.52) and Nic Huffman in the javelin (170-8).
” I was very proud of how of teams competed over the last two days at this championship,” said AU coach Scott Wilson. “Our people really put forth a great effort and showed outstanding determination. We reached many of our goals and we came up short on a few. Our seniors did a great job of showing the way and we had several underclassmen do well too. It was an exciting championship.”
