Ravens split softball twinbill at Rose-Hulman

The Anderson University softball team split a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference games on Sunday at Rose-Hulman, winning the first contest 11-1 in five innings and losing the finale 2-0.
In the first game, Julia Siefring led the Ravens with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored. Kahley Barkes has two hits and two RBI.
Gretchen Louzon had two doubles and two runs and Chelsie Haines and Jessica Alsman each added two hits and a run scored. Brittany Lane and Kelly Shuck each had a hit and two runs scored.
Louzon earned the victory in relief, allowing three hits and no runs over the final 3.2 innings while striking our one without a walk. Kelly Thompson pitched the first 1.1 innings, allowing no hits and one run, but walking four and striking out two.
In the second game, Louzon and Alsman had the only two Raven hits as Rose-Hulman ace Jordan Goslee had a school record 16 strikeouts, including the first 10 outs of the game.
Alsman took the loss on the mound despite allowing only three hits and no earned runs while walking one and striking out two. The Ravens committed five errors in the field.
AU (12-18, 6-4 HCAC) hosts Transylvania on Monday. The games will be carried live on the internet broadcast from Raven Field at 3:30 p.m.
