Softball team salvages split at IU-Southeast

The Anderson University softball team split a pair of games on Saturday at IU-Southeast, losing to St. Mary’s of the Woods 4-2, but defeating Calumet College 4-3 in New Albany.
Against St. Mary’s of the Woods, Kahley Barkes and Gretchen Louzon each had a pair of hits. Chelsie Haines had the Ravens’ RBI and Barkes and Kelly Thompson each scored a run.
Thompson took the loss on the mound, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out four and walking four.
Against Calumet, Barkes had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. She also led the team with two hits and Louzon added a double.
Jessica Alsman earned the victory on the mound, allowing five hits and no earned runs while striking out seven and walking two.
AU (5-9) plays Judson (1 p.m.) and IU-Southeast (5 p.m.) on Saturday in New Albany.
