Softball team splits pair with Emerson, Manhattenville

The Anderson University softball team split a pair of games on Thursday at the Osceola Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla, losing to Emerson 2-1, but defeating Manhattenville 8-7.
Against Emerson, Julia Siefring and Chelsie Haines led the offense with two hits each. Kahley Barkes had an RBI single and Kelly Shuck scored the lone Ravens’ run.
Kelly Thompson took the loss on the mound, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out seven and walking one.
In the second game, Brittany Lane led the offense with three hits and two RBI, including the game-winner in the sixth inning.
Kate Richards had two hits and three RBI, including a double, and Haines also had a pair of hits and two runs, including a double.
Gretchen Louzon got the win in relief, pitching five innings and allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out five and walking five.
AU (3-5) plays Simpson and Washington, Md., on Friday in Kissimmee, Fla., at 9 a.m.
