The Anderson University volleyball team has been picked to finish second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference pre-season coaches poll on Wednesday.
Ten-time defending champion Mt. St. Joseph was picked to finish first with 80 points, including eight first-place votes. The Ravens were second with 66 points and the other first-place vote, followed by Defiance (59), Bluffton (51), Manchester (47), Hanover (44), Transylvania (26), Rose-Hulman (19) and Franklin (13).
The Ravens finished second last year in the HCAC with an overall record of 14-17, including 6-2 in loop play. They return senior starters Jessica Berlin (Sr.), Caitlin Morency (Sr.) and Carol Weatherford (Sr.).
AU opens the 2009 season in the Kalamazoo Tournament on Sept. 5 at 3 p.m.
