Raven men run win streak to eight over Defiance

The Anderson University men’s basketball team won its eighth straight game on Saturday, defeating Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College 75-68 at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium.

The Ravens, ranked No. 25, last lost at Franklin on Dec. 6. They currently trail the Grizzlies in the HCAC standings by one game. The eight-game winning streak is the longest for the Ravens since the 1995-96 season.

Rodney Holliday led the Ravens with 14 points, hitting 5-of-8 field goals and all four of his free throws. Jordan Wiseman was also in double figures with 13 points and a game-high eight rebounds, also hitting 5-of-8 shots, including three 3-pointers.

Ty Riddle came off the bench to score 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Andrew Jones and Mike Russell added nine and eight points, respectively. Russell also led the team with five assists and Jones in steals with three.

Brock Morrison chipped in with seven points off the bench and Brandon Coffer had five points as the AU reserves outscored the Yellow Jacket subs 25-17.

Defiance won the battle of the boards 33-28, but the Ravens had a 10-7 advantage on the offensive glass. The Yellow Jackets had the edge in points in the paint (38-20), assists (15-12) and blocks (4-0), but the Ravens had the lead in turnovers (8-17), points off turnovers (22-4), second chance points (8-7) and steals (8-2).

AU (11-3, 4-1 HCAC) hosts Bluffton on Wednesday. The game will be carried live on the internet broadcast from O.C. Lewis Gymnasium at 7:30 p.m.
