Chris Sickels of Red Nose Studio juries Student Exhibition

From February 22 through March 21, Jessie C. Wilson Galleries at Anderson University will host the annual Juried Student Exhibition. The opening reception and award ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. This year’s juror, Chris Sickels, will give a lecture at 4 p.m. His work will be exhibited in conjunction with the student work selected for the exhibition.

Anderson University will be running on a two-hour delay today, February 5, to allow more travel time for faculty, staff, and students.

AU welcomes Jim Lyon for Impact Your World Week

Jim Lyon will be the featured speaker for Impact Your World Week, Feb. 4-6, at Anderson University. The AU Campus Ministries office sponsors Impact Your World Week to offer students and the community an opportunity for worship and study with an off-campus speaker. The series is conducted each spring and focuses on Christ’s call to serve in the world.

AU graduate receives full-ride into doctoral program

Ryan Daugherty graduated from Anderson University in 2013 with a bachelor of science in political science and economics. Daugherty currently attends Kansas University and is one of the few political science graduates from AU to continue on to a doctoral program. Daugherty was awarded a full ride to KU’s program to study the politics of Latin American economies.

AU alumna pursuing dream as a behavioral clinician

Abby Kahl had a dream job in mind when she graduated from Anderson University. Today, she’s reaping the rewards of hard work and persistence. Kahl works as a behavioral clinician at the Suzanne Gresham Center in Muncie, Ind. In this position, she works with clients ranging from ages 2 to 16 who have behavioral disabilities. Kahl’s job requires extensive knowledge, and she says it’s her AU courses that prepared her.

Due to historically dangerous temperatures, the university will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 27 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 29. This means all classes on Tuesday and Tuesday evening will be cancelled..

The shuttle bus will continue to run at 30 minute intervals until 11:30 p.m. tonight and will resume at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow morning running until 11:30 p.m. tomorrow night. Shuttle service will continue if temperatures are below zero.

AU grad Smith wins award for work with Walmart

A 2009 Anderson University computer science graduate, Zach Smith, currently goes to work every day in Bentonville, Ark. Approximately 621 miles away from the AU campus, the knowledge and lessons Smith gained have traveled with him to the Walmart headquarters where he serves as a computer programmer. Recently, Smith won an award for his work on a mobile application that helps make car maintenance user friendly for Walmart’s customers.

Dr. James Lewis: MLK sought equal education for all

Anderson and Madison County should work together to bring educational opportunities to all residents of the community, was the message of Dr. James Lewis during the annual celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Throughout his lifetime and during his fight for civil rights in America, King stressed that we are all tied together in a shared destiny.
