The Anderson University School of Music, Theatre, and Dance will present Dr. Rebecca Chappell with the 2014 Outstanding Music Alumni Award during the Homecoming Concert on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
The Anderson University Athletic Hall of Fame is celebrating its 18th year with four new inductees who will be honored at an awards banquet on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 5:30 p.m. in the Olt Student Center. The AU Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 1997 by former athletic director Barrett Bates to recognize former Raven athletes, coaches, and contributors to the university. They are chosen by the Hall of Fame committee.
Anderson University will honor several distinguished alumni during the Homecoming Banquet on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the Schield Dining Room in the Olt Student Center. Individuals being honored include Lawrence Brownlee (Distinguished Alumni Award); Paul Mumaw (Distinguished Young Alumni Award); Dr. David Sebastian (John H. Kane Loyalty Award); and Tom Bruce (Distinguished Service Award).
Anderson University welcomes alumni, family, and friends back for fun and fellowship during Homecoming 2014, Oct. 17-18. Along with the annual homecoming football game and introduction of the homecoming king, queen, and court, there will also be opportunities to enjoy the Street Fair (rain or shine) that will again host Reunion Park, the Raven's Nest Sundae, and RavenFest.
It could be the ambiance, it could be the costumes, choreography or it could just be the singing.

AU’s “A Grand Night for Singing” premieres at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Byrum Hall.
Director and new musical theater teacher David Coolidge said he didn’t make his AU debut easy on himself, but the production is seamless.
Anderson University and the Anderson University School of Theology will conduct a special service of installation for Dr. James W. Lewis as the eighth dean of the School of Theology, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The installation service will be held in Park Place Church of God with a reception immediately following at the church. The public is invited to attend. Dr. Lewis succeeds Dr. David Sebastian who served as dean of the School of Theology since 1995 until his retirement in July, 2014.
Good eats and dancing feet will bring the liveliness of the Latino culture to Anderson this weekend.
EPIC Initiatives is sponsoring its second annual Anderson Fiesta from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Dickmann Town Center Plaza, 1135 Meridian St. Admission to the event is free.
Anderson University professor of chemistry Scott Kennedy has kept very busy this summer.
Kennedy spent the past few months in California working as a guest researcher at Google X, the secretive research branch of Google Inc. During that time, Kennedy has been able to observe the Google work environment reputation in action.
