Three weeks into his tenure at Anderson University, John Pistole is embarked on a crash course about how to be a university president and is relishing the challenge.

“I worked two weeks and then spring break. What’s not to like?” Pistole joked Monday during his first extended interview with The Herald Bulletin since assuming office.

National Lincoln Exhibit at Anderson University

“Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War,” a nationwide traveling exhibition presented by the American Library Association (ALA), will debut at Anderson University’s Nicholson Library on Friday, March 27. This exhibit is free and open to students, faculty and staff, and the general public. This exhibit focuses on Abraham Lincoln’s “struggle to meet the political and constitutional challenges of the Civil War” (ALA).

Anderson University dedicates new peace pole.

Standing 10 feet tall (including 4 feet underground) and weighing 600 pounds, the peace pole is one of the newest addition to Anderson University’s campus.  The pole, displaying a message of peace in 14 different languages, is intended to represent as many Anderson University students from around the world as possible.

Positioned near the Fine Arts building, the pole was placed in a high traffic area. Students, professors, and visitors to campus will pass by the pole each day. Organizers hope they will reflect on its message.

Two AU students intern at Fishhook

Learn how Anderson University business students used their AU experiences to land internships at Fishhook, a creative services firm in Indianapolis.

The opportunity to help churches and faith-based organizations gain momentum through creative and compelling communication strategies is what drove Anderson University seniors Dalton Cox and Mark Hofstrom to intern at Fishhook this past summer.  

Fishhook is an Indianapolis-based communications and marketing agency primarily serving religious groups.

Cox, who helped create and manage video and online components, learned about the internship from the founder’s daughter, a fellow AU student.

AU senior reaches out to orphans in Russia

Learn how senior Anderson University education major Natalie Meliotes helped orphans through an internship in Russia.

It was through Orphan Outreach, a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to millions of at risk children, that Natalie Meliotes received the opportunity to travel to Russia for a month over the summer.

Meliotes is a senior majoring in education and minoring in global studies. Ever since she could remember, Meliotes knew that she wanted to travel abroad, especially to Russia.

Sports marketing class gains real-world industry experience

Learn more about the real-world experience sports marketing students in the Falls School of Business at Anderson University received through planning events, meeting industry leaders, and more.

Gaining real-life experience in the classroom is a goal for many Falls School of Business students. This semester, students in the sports marketing class got that experience.

Students have planned sporting events, met and networked with industry professionals, and visited professional sports facilities and venues. Anna Stumpf, assistant professor of marketing, and Scott Zebedis, adjunct professor, co-taught and built the class around experiential learning.

Anderson University ensures that its students are provided with ample opportunities to see classroom concepts in practice through a variety of methods: job shadowing, overseas trips, and industry conferences.

Deanna and President James L. Edwards enjoy a community tribute event.

The eagerly awaited official portrait of Dr. James Edwards was unveiled during a celebratory community concert Sunday at Reardon Auditorium hosted by Bill and Gloria Gaither.

“Being a portrait artist at an unveiling is a little like being a cat at a dog convention,” said Anderson artist David Slonim in remarks before the painted-from-life 40– by 30–inch oil on linen portrait was revealed.
