Wind Ensemble prepares for spring tour

The Anderson University Wind Ensemble is preparing for a special spring tour throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and Indiana, March 9-18. Under the direction of Dr. Susan Taylor and Professor John Huntoon, the Wind Ensemble was established in 1969 and is a select group of approximately sixty-five woodwind, brass, and percussion instrumentalists.

To his staff, he was the executive always ahead of the game. To his friends, he was a Christian who touched lives in positive ways. To the little girl down the street and later a generation of college students, he was known, affectionately, as “Uncle Bob.” However he was regarded, Anderson University lost a dear friend and trailblazing leader when former president Dr. Robert H. Reardon, 87, died at his Anderson home Saturday, February 10, of complications from pancreatic cancer.

Paul: A Musical Journey makes debut at AU

"Paul: A Musical Journey" will be featured on the Reardon Auditorium stage, Friday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. on the campus of Anderson University. The musical, written by Anderson University alum, Charles Myricks, Jr., (BA ’82) is the life changing story of the Apostle Paul. The show has garnered rave reviews and received standing ovations at every performance since it opened in Akron, Ohio, in January, 2005.

Campus mourns passing of Linda Cummins

The Anderson University campus mourns the recent passing of Linda Cummins, associate dean of students for residence life and commuter advisor. She suffered an extended illness with cancer. In her most recent role, Linda worked with Anderson University resident directors and resident assistants to create living, learning environments in the residence halls to provide opportunities for academic, spiritual, personal and social development.

School of Education hosts National Teacher of the Year

The School of Education at Anderson University will host Kimberly Oliver, the 2006 National Teacher of the Year on Tuesday, February 6, at 10 a.m. in the lobby of Reardon Auditorium. Oliver will speak to Anderson University Education majors and other invited guests. The public is invited to attend this free event. On April 26, 2006, Oliver, a native of Silver Spring, Maryland, was named the 2006 Teacher of the Year during a White House ceremoney with President George W. Bush.

School of Music and Adams Foundation bring recital to Anderson

The School of Music at Anderson University is partnering with the Adams Foundation to present internationally-acclaimed concert pianist, James Tocco, in a solo piano recital at Central Christian Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 11. The City of Anderson was recently chosen as the first city in the Midwest to host the special piano recital series underwritten by the Adams Foundation.

Colts help fund AU SIFE programs

The Anderson University Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization recently received $1,000 to help fund education programs from the 2006 Jr. Community Quarterback Grant program, the Indianapolis Colts and the National Football League Charities (NFLC). Helping to fulfill the grant’s purpose of giving back to the community, the funding will allow SIFE’s educational programs at Anderson University to continue to make a positive impact.

Anderson University is among several higher education institutions in Indiana to partner with appliance and consumer electronics retailer, hhgregg as it recently announced its sole corporate sponsorship of a 9/11-related scholarship program benefiting the children of Indiana’s police officers, firefighters and EMTs.
