Men’s Golfers Finish 7th at HCAC Championships

mgolfThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished seventh in the four-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Sunday at Honeywell Golf Course in North Manchester.

Daniel Elliott led the Ravens with a 76-77-83-76 312 and was 15th individually.

Other AU finishers were Paul O’Bold (82-85-77-86 330), Neal Hamilton (83-84-84-82 333), and Nathan Cooper (86-84-84-86 340).

Jeremy Redman (80-87 167) played the first two rounds at Transylvania and Nathan Newcomer (81-95 176) the final two rounds at Manchester.

Transylvania leads the tournament with a 1,164, followed by Mt. St. Joseph (1,206), Franklin (1,228), Hanover (1,228), Defiance (1,287), Manchester (1,294), Anderson (1,306) and Rose-Hulman (1,324).

Men’s Golf 8th at Rose-Hulman Invitational

mgolfThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished eighth in the two-day, 10-team Rose-Hulman Invitational at Hulman Links Golf Course in Terre Haute on Saturday and Sunday.

Daniel Elliott led the Ravens with a 79-82 161 and was 30th individually.

Other AU finishers were Paul O’Bold (79-83 162), Neal Hamilton (82-91 173), Nathan Cooper (84-86 170) and Jeremy Redman (84-83 167).

Centre won the match with a score of 609, followed by Hanover (631), DePauw (633), Mt. St. Joseph (634), Wabash (634), Manchester (646), Defiance (651), Anderson (658), Rose-Hulman (702) and Thomas More (715).

mgolfThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished eighth in the two-day, 10-team Hanover Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Hanover College.

Neal Hamilton led the Ravens with a 79-78 157 and was in 24th place individually.

Other AU finishers were Daniel Elliott (80-78 158), Nathan Cooper (81-84 165), Paul O’Bold (82-83 165) and Nathan Newcomer (89-81 170).

Transylvania won the invitational with a 578, followed by Mt. St. Joseph (614), Hanover (621), Franklin (622), Adrian (625), Defiance (628), Wabash (635), Anderson (642), Manchester (644) and Rose-Hulman (700).

AU plays in the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Apr. 14-15.

mgolfThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished ninth in the two-day, 13-team Mt. St. Joseph Invitational on Sunday at the Aston Oaks Golf Course in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Daniel Elliot led the Ravens with a 75-78 153 and was 16th individually.

Other AU finishers were Paul O’Bold (83-88 171), Nathan Cooper (88-82 170), Nate Newcomer (93-78 171) and Neal Hamilton (95-88 183).

Transylvania won the invitational with a 587, followed by Hanover (601), Centre (604), Mt. St. Joseph (607), Ohio Northern (628), Franklin (639), Muskingum (653), Alma (657), Anderson (665), Defiance (672), Manchester (684), Rose-Hulman (701) and Thomas More (723).

AU travels to the Hanover Invitational next Saturday and Sunday.

AU golfers finish 5th at HCAC tournament

Elliott_webThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished fifth at the four-day Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships at the Anderson Country Club on Sunday.

The first two round were at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington on Apr. 16-17. The third round was on Saturday at the Anderson Country Club.

Daniel Elliott was named All-Conference after shooting a four-round total of 85-80-78-75 318 to finish sixth individually.

Other AU finishers were Paul O’Bold (89-87-78 318), Jordan Roberts (93-86-82-86 347), Nathan Newcomer (81-89 170) and Bubba Lentscher (84-86 170).

Kevin O’Bold (91-94 185) and Jeremy Redman (95-94 189) played last weekend, but not the final two rounds.

Team scores – Transylvania 1,255, Mt. St. Joseph 1,283, Franklin 1,291, Hanover 1,302, Anderson 1,353, Defiance 1,355, Rose-Hulman 1,393, Manchester 1,405.

Daniel Elliott shot an 80-81 161 to lead the Ravens and was 20th individually.

Other AU finishers were Kevin O’Bold (80-85 165), Jeremy Redman (85-83 168), Bubba Lentscher (86-82 168) and Nathan Newcomer (84-89 173).

Team scores – DePauw 601, Wittenberg 605, Franklin 628, Marian 639, Hanover 646, Wabash 647, Anderson 660, Manchester 688.

Daniel ElliottĀ  (84-88 172) and Paul O’Bold (88-84 172) led the Ravens with two-day totals of 172 and were tied for 25th place individually.

Other AU finishers were Jordan Roberts (88-89 177), Jeremy Redman (92-88 180) and Nathan Cooper (93-90 183).

AU plays at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle on Saturday and Sunday.

mgolfThe Anderson University men’s golf team finished seventh in the nine-team Hanover Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour.

Jordan Roberts shot a two-day total of 79-79 158 to lead the Ravens and was 21st overall as an individual.

Other AU finishers were Kevin O’Bold 80-79 159, Daniel Elliott 82-79 161, Colin Miller 90-85 175, Nathan Newcomer 91-88 179.

Team scores – Transylvania 604, Mt. St. Joseph 614, Hanover 620, Defiance 634, Thomas More 652, Manchester 652, Anderson 653, Wabash 662, Rose-Hulman 678.

AU grad and coach succeeds through challenges

Anderson University alumnus Tyler Daniels BA ‘09 was told at an early age that walking would not be part of his future. At birth, Daniels was diagnosed with spina bifida, a congenital defect in which the spinal cord branches out from the spinal column. Spina bifida usually results in neurological impairment, but Daniels had a higher power on his side.
