Anderson University’s Kai McCurdy and Addison Witt have been honored by the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference in men’s tennis for the 2009 season.

McCurdy has been named to the HCAC 1st Team and Witt has been named honorable mention. McCurdy played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Ravens this season. Witt played No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles as a freshman this year for AU.

McCurdy was also named to the All-HCAC Sportsmanship Team for the 2009 season.

AU finished the season 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the HCAC, losing to Rose-Hulman in the HCAC Championships last weekend.

The Anderson University men’s tennis team lost to No. 3 seed Rose-Hulman 7-2 on Saturday in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament at the Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.

Ben Wilson and Addison Witt scored the Ravens’ two points in the match. Wilson won at No. 3 singles in straight sets (7-6, 6-0) and Witt was victorious at No. 6 singles in three sets (7-5, 3-6, 10-5).

AU finishes the season 3-7 overall and 3-5 in the HCAC.

Ben Wilson won at both singles and doubles to lead the Ravens on Saturday. He won at No. 3 singles (3-6, 6-1, 10-7) and also at No. 2 doubles with Jake Banwert (9-7).

AU (3-6, 3-5 HCAC) travels to the HCAC Championships on Saturday at the Indy Racquet Club. AU will be the No. 6 seed and play the No. 3 seed at 11 a.m.

The Anderson University men’s tennis team dropped a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday at Defiance College, losing to the Yellow Jackets 8-1 and to Transyvlania University 8-1.

Against Defiance, Addison Witt was victorious at No. 6 singles, defeating Lachmond Bratton; 4-6, 7-6, 10-6. Witt also scored the only Raven point in the Transylvania match, defeating Trevor Scott, 6-2 and 6-2.

AU (3-5, 3-4 HCAC) hosts Rose-Hulman on Saturday at noon.

The Anderson University men’s tennis team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foes Manchester College 5-4 and Mt. St. Joseph 9-0 on Saturday at the AU Tennis Courts.

Kai McCurdy led the Ravens with four victories, including two each in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.

Chris Rowe also won all four of his matches, teaming with McCurdy at No. 1 doubles and winning twice at No. 2 singles.

Jake Banwort (No. 3 singles) and Addison Witt (No. 4 singles) accounted for the other two points in the Manchester match.
