AU picked 5th in men’s HCAC Tennis Poll

mtennisThe Anderson University men’s tennis team was selected to finish fifth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference coaches pre-season poll on Tuesday.

Defending champion Earlham was picked to finish first with a perfect 100 points and all 10 first-place votes. The Quakers were followed by Transylvania (90), Rose-Hulman (71), Hanover (66), Anderson (64), Franklin (52), Mt. St. Joseph (37), Manchester (30), Defiance (29) and Bluffton (11).

AU opens the 2012 season at home against Transylvania on Mar. 31 at 10 am..

Lovern named to All-HCAC men’s tennis squad

Lovern.DrewAnderson University’s Drew Lovern was named to the 2011 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis team on Tuesday.

Lovern played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Ravens this season, who finished 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC. AU defeated Franklin 5-3 in the first round of the HCAC tournament last weekend before losing to top-seeded Transylvania 5-0 in the semifinals.

Brock Bell, Kyle Templeton and Chris Rowe were named All-HCAC Honorable Mention for the 2011 season. Rowe was named to the All Sportsmanship Team.

Tennis team falls to top-seeded Transy in HCAC semifinals

mtennisThe Anderson University men’s tennis team defeated Franklin College 5-3 in the first round of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament on Saturday at the West Indy Racquet Club. The Ravens lost to top-seeded Transylvania 5-0 in the semifinal round.

Against Franklin, Brock Bell, Fede Bosciani and Adam Millikan all won two matches for the Ravens.

Bell won at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Kyle Templeton at No. 2 singles to win.

Bosciani won at No. 5 singles and Millikan at No. 6 singles before the two teamed up to be victorious at No. 3 doubles.

AU finishes the season 6-5 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC.

Tennis team splits HCAC home three-way meet

Lovern_webThe Anderson University men’s tennis team split a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday at the AU Tennis Courts.

The Ravens lost to Transylvania 5-0, but rebounded to defeat Franklin College 6-3 in the second contest.

Against Franklin, Brock Bell, Kyle Templeton and Adam Millikan all won two matches for the Ravens. Bell won at No. 3 singles and Templeton at No. 4 singles before they combined to win at No. 2 doubles.

Millikan won at No. 6 singles and teamed up with Fede Bosicani to win at No. 3 doubles. Drew Lovern won at No. 1 singles for the other Raven point.

AU (5-4, 5-3 HCAC) travels to Cedarville on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Brock Bell, Kyle Templeton, Fede Bosciani and Adam Millikan all won two matches for the Ravens.

Bell won at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Templeton at No. 2 doubles, while Templeton won at No. 4 singles.

Bosciani won at No. 5 singles an combined with Millikan at No. 3 doubles, while Millikan also was victorious at No. 6 singles.

Chris Rowe won at No. 2 singles for the other AU point in the match.

AU (4-3, 4-2 HCAC) hosts HCAC opponents Transylvania and Franklin on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.

Men’s Tennis team wins third straight HCAC match

mtennisThe Anderson University men’s tennis team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Mt. St. Joseph 7-2 on Saturday at the Queen City Racquet Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Brock Bell, Kyle Templeton, Fede Bosciani and Adam Millikan each notched two wins for the Ravens in the match.

Bell won at No. 3 singles and Templeton at No. 4 singles before the two combined to win at No. 2 doubles.

Bosciani was victorious at No. 5 singles and Millikan a winner at No. 6 singles before the duo merged to win at No. 3 doubles.

Chris Rowe accounted for the other Raven point, winning in three sets at No. 2 singles.

AU (3-1, 3-0 HCAC) hosts Rose-Hulman on Monday at 6 p.m.

Men’s tennis still unbeaten in HCAC competition

mtennisThe Anderson University men’s tennis team defeated Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Manchester College 9-0 on Tuesday in North Manchester.

Drew Lovern and Chris Rowe won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, before teaming up to win at No. 1 doubles. Brock Bell and Kyle Templeton each won at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively, and combined to take No. 2 doubles.

Fede Bosciani and Adam Millikan completed the shutout by winning at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, before joining forces to be victorious at No. 3 doubles.

AU (2-1, 2-0 HCAC) travels to Earlham on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Men’s tennis opens HCAC play with victory over Hanover

mtennisThe Anderson University men’s tennis team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 6-3 victory over Hanover College on Saturday in Franklin.

Brock Bell, Kyle Templeton, Fede Bosciani and Adam Millikan each notched a pair of victories for the Ravens in the match. Bell won at No. 3 singles and teamed up with Templeton to win at No. 2 doubles. Templeton won at No. 4 singles.

Bosciani was victorious at No. 5 singles before teaming up with Millikan to win at No. 3 doubles. Millikan also won at No. 6 singles.

AU (1-1, 1-0 HCAC) travels to Manchester on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

AU (0-1) travels to Franklin next Saturday to play Hanover College at noon.
