Ravens Compete at Non-Scoring North Central Meet

trackThe Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field team competed at the North Central Invitational on Friday in Naperville, Ill.

Tony Johnson finished fourth in the 60 meters in 7.05 and Max Kittle was 10th in the 60 hurdles in a time of 8.62.

Other AU men’s finishers were Brad McNeil in the 400 meters (11th, 51.65), Eric Linn in the mile (24th, 4:38.46), Emby Duncan (30th, 16:39.69) and Matt St. Amour (31st, 16:41.43) in the 5,000 meters.

Sarah Bromagem finished seventh in the 800 meters in 2:20.41, which is sixth in school history and a personal best time. Alex Friske finished eighth in the 60 hurdles in a time of 9.14.

Candace DeLong finished 12th in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:28.35, which is a personal best and eighth in school history.

Johnson named HCAC Track Player of the Week

Johnson.TonyAnderson University’s Tony Johnson has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Johnson led the Ravens at the Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational over the weekend, winning the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.94. He set a new fieldhouse record with the 19th best time in the country this season.  Johnson also finished second in the 200-meter dash and was a member of the winning 800-meter relay team.

AU travels to the Washington University Invitational on Mar. 23 at 11 a.m.

Raven Men Finish 4th; Johnson sets fieldhouse mark

StAmour_webThe Anderson University men’s track and field team finished fourth in the 15-team Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Tony Johnson, Patrick Smith and the 800 meter relay team all had first place finishes to lead the Ravens.

Johnson finished first in the 60 meters in a time of 6.94 and Smith was victorious in the 1,000 meters in 2:48.55. His time was a fieldhouse record as well as a personal best and he ranks 19th in the nation.

The relay team of Brad McNeil, Kyle Vergon, Chazz Millman and Johnson won in a time of 1:34.54.

Emby Duncan notched a runner-up finish in the 3,000 steeplechase in 9:50.28.

Wabash won the meet with 130 points, followed by Manchester (54.5), Franklin (53) and Anderson (51).

AU competes at the Washington University Invitational on Mar. 23 at 11 a.m.

Raven men finish 5th at HCAC Indoor Championships

HCACmenThe Anderson University men’s track and field team finished fifth in the 10-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Terre Haute.

Tony Johnson led the Ravens with a victory in the 60 meters in a time of 7.02. Johnson also finished 16th in the 200 meters.

Max Kittle finished second in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.52 and Leonard Wells also had a top five finish with a four-place showing in the shot put (45-11 3/4).

All three of the Ravens’ relay teams finished third and Brad McNeil was fifth in the 400 meters (51.74).

Rose-Hulman won the meet with 262 points, followed by Defiance (112.5), Manchester (81.5), Franklin (50), Anderson (45), Earlham (32.5), Hanover (15), Mt. St. Joseph (11), Transylvania (7) and Bluffton (6.5).

AU hosts the Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational next Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center at 3 p.m.

Linn, Johnson win individual titles at Raven Indoor meet

Hill_webThe Anderson University men’s track and field team competed in the five-team non-scoring Raven Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Eric Linn and Tony Johnson each won individual events for the Ravens and both the 800 and 1,600 relay teams finished first.

Linn won the mile in a time of 4:33.01 while Johnson won the 60 meters in a time of 7:01.

Johnson’s time in the 60 meters is the currently the best time in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season.

The 800 relay team of Brad McNeil, Kyle Vergon, Tony Johnson and Jack Hill won in a time of 1:33.41 while the 1,600 team consisted of Brad McNeil, Kyle Vergon, Max Kittle and Jack Hill in 3:27.55.

The 800 relay team currently has the second best time in the conference while the 1,600 relay team has the third fastest time in the HCAC.

Max Kittle, who finished second in the 60 hurdles (8.48) has the second best time in the HCAC.

AU runs in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday in Terre Haute at 1 p.m.

Raven men finish 2nd in AU Indoor Invitational

Hurdles_webThe Anderson University men’s track and field team finished second in the five-team AU Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Manchester won the meet with 187 points, followed by Anderson (106), Earlham (80), Hanover (77) and Transylvania (34).

Tony Johnson (60 meters, 7.04), Marc St. Amour (1,000 meters, 2:41.63) and Max Kittle (60 hurdles, 8.73) each won an individual event for the Ravens and Johnson was second in the 200 meters.

The Ravens 1,600 meter (3:30.07) and distance medley relay (10:55.03) teams were also victorious while the 800 relay team was second in a time of 1:36.89.

AU hosts the Raven Indoor Invitational next Saturday in the Kardatzke Wellness Center at 3 p.m.

Johnson notches pair of top 10 finishes at IWU meet

mtrackThe Anderson University men’s track and field team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Marion.

Tony Johnson led the Ravens with a third-place finish in the 60 meters in a time of 7:03.21. Johnson won the preliminary race in 7.05 and also finished ninth in the 200 meters in a time of 23.76.

Other top five finishers for the Ravens were Matt St. Amour (3rd, 16:21.11), Marc St. Amour (4th, 16:22.54) and Erin Linn (5th, 16:31.29) in the 5,000 meter race.

The Ravens host the AU Indoor Invitational in the Kardatzke Wellness Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Radke, Wells leads AU at Wabash Indoor Invitational

trackEmily Radke and Leonard Wells both notched top-five finishes at the Wabash Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Crawfordsville.

Radke finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 38-11 while Wells was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 46-2.

Other AU men’s finishers were Colton Sewell in the shot put (13th, 37-7) and weight throw (13th, 28-4), Max Kittle in the 60 meters (13th, 8.89), Steven Wingler in the shot put (17th, 32-7), DeTarance Harvey in the weight throw (12th, 32-9), shot put (18th, 21-8) and Brad McNeil in the 60 meters (16th, 9.13) and 200 meters (17th, 24.07).

Other AU women’s finishers were Amanda Spear in the weight throw (13th, 39-3).

AU travels to the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday at noon.

AU sets home track schedule for 2012 season

wellnessThe Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field teams will be hosting three indoor and three outdoor invitationals this spring to highlight the 2012 season.

The three indoor meets will be on Feb. 4, 11 and 25 with the three outdoor meets on Mar. 31, April 5 and 20. The Ravens conclude the respective indoor and outdoor team season schedules at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 18 (Rose-Hulman) and Apr. 27-28 (Franklin).
