AU hosts national multicultural leadership conference

Anderson University will be the 2007 host site for the National Christian Multicultural Student Leaders Conference (NCMSLC) Nov. 8-11. The NCMSLC conference, under the theme "Only Agape Can Lead to Shalom," is an annual student development conference that aims to provide participants with knowledge and skills that enhance their understanding of multicultural ideals, challenges, and realities, and the role of Christian students and Christian institutions in the journey toward cultural competency.

Paul: A Musical Journey performs for national conference at AU

“Paul: A Musical Journey” will be featured on the Reardon Auditorium stage, Saturday, November 10, at 3 p.m. on the campus of Anderson University. The musical, written by Anderson University alum, Charles Myricks, Jr., (BA ’82) is the life changing story of the Apostle Paul. The show has garnered rave reviews and received standing ovations at every performance since it opened in Akron, Ohio, in January, 2005.

Anderson University co-sponsors graphic design competition

Anderson University and Tweener Ministries are partnering to sponsor a graphic design contest for teen artists that will support a new chapter book authored by a teen writer. AU will award a $44,000 scholarship ($11,000 each year for four years) to the winning graphic artist. Baker Trittin Press will publish the winning cover art on the published book. The graphic design contest is open to students enrolled in grades 9-12, including homeschoolers.

Carey visits AU for Spiritual Emphasis Week

Anderson University welcomes Harvey Carey to the campus for Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW), October 23-25. Harvey Carey is the founder and Lead Pastor of the Citadel of Faith Covenant Church in Detroit, Michigan. The Anderson University office of Spiritual Life and Counseling Services sponsors SEW once each year to offer students and the community an opportunity for worship and study with an off-campus speaker.

AU dedicates second phase of York Seminary Village

Anderson University dedicated the second phase of its York Seminary Village with a ceremony during Homecoming events Saturday.

Three new brick colonial buildings became available to seminary students this academic year, completing the group of apartments located on Walnut Street between Sixth and Seventh streets. The first phase of the village was dedicated in August 2006.

Four inducted into Athletic Hall of Fame

Former Raven athletes Robert Adcock, Miriam (Garner) England, Frank Runion and James Wehsollek were inducted into the Anderson University Athletic Hall of Fame as the Class of 2007 on Saturday night at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Robert Adcock, a Norwalk, Conn. Native, was a four-year starter on both the baseball and football teams at Anderson, including starting both ways on the football team. In baseball, he was a three-time team MVP (1961-63) and a two-time All-Conference (1962-63) selection. In football, he was All-Conference after the 1962 season.

Jon McLaughlin's Homecoming

Jon McLaughlin has had quite a year. Certainly one for the ole scrapbook.

The highlights? There’s his music being used in the movies "Georgia Rules" and "Bridge to Terabithia," as well as making his own silver-screen debut later this fall in Disney’s "Enchanted." That comes after McLaughlin appeared in an episode of the daytime soap "The Bold & The Beautiful" in August.
