Anderson University has announced the hiring of Lindsay Shade as the new head women’s basketball coach. Shade replaces Marcie Taylor who served as head women’s basketball coach for 25 years. Taylor will continue in her role as full-time Athletic Director. Shade brings to Anderson over ten years of collegiate coaching experience. For the past two seasons, Shade served as assistant coach at Taylor University where she was the defensive coordinator and scouting manager.
Recent Anderson University graduates Watson George and Courtney Rice were honored as the recipients of the 2015 Billie Roy and Pearl Toon Smith Endowed Christian Education Scholarship Award. The scholarship was presented to them on May 8 by the Department of Religious Studies during a luncheon in the Olt Student Center.
Anderson University recently honored Dr. Michael Frank and Audrey Weiger with John A. Morrison Awards for their commitment and service to AU. In addition, the university presented the MOSAIC Award to Dr. Lynn Schmidt, and the Golden Compass Award to Dr. Lee Griffith. The awards were presented May 7 during the university’s annual faculty/staff recognition luncheon.
The webcast will feature the entire commencement program, including an address to graduates from Dr. James L. Edwards, former president of Anderson University. Edwards will also receive an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

Ivaan Shrestha thought the earthquake that hit his native Nepal was small — something that’s happened before.
It wasn’t until he saw images of historical buildings crumbling to dust that he realized the severity of the quake, and that his family, friends and neighbors were in danger.
But all the Anderson University student could do was watch the devastation from afar and try to get in touch with his loved ones.
The Nicholson Library at Anderson University will welcome Dr. George Rable to campus on April 24. Dr. Rable will be speaking on “The Religious Lives of Abraham Lincoln.” Rable is the Charles G. Summersell Chair in Southern History at the University of Alabama and a former AU history professor.
Nichole Frazier and Max Kittle were also recognized with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for their academic and athletic accomplishments, campus involvement and leadership.
