Pistole says AU nomination became 'journey of faith'

John Pistole describes the Anderson University president nomination and vetting process as a "journey of faith."

John Pistole wasn't thinking about leaving his job as administrator of the Transportation Security Administration when members of the Anderson University presidential search committee several months ago asked him to apply for the position.

"I was surprised when they first asked me," Pistole said in an interview with The Herald Bulletin on Thursday. "It wasn't necessarily something I was thinking about. I've thoroughly enjoyed the work I've done at TSA and wonderful people I've worked with here."

"Ramicack!" an art exhibit by Tom Walker, will be on display from Oct. 25 - Dec. 8 in the Jessie C. Wilson Galleries at Anderson University.

The Jessie C. Wilson Galleries at Anderson University are proud to present "Ramicack!" an exhibition of letterpress prints by Tom Walker.

In this installation of baseball-themed, pennant posters Walker showcases his love of experimenting with printing methods, using metal and wood type from the collection at Indiana University Graphic Design Press.

Learn more about the 2014 Anderson University Homecoming, which gathered alumni from all over the country in Anderson, Ind.

Rain and chilly temperatures couldn’t dampen spirits Saturday as Anderson University celebrated homecoming weekend.

University Boulevard was packed with current and former students as the homecoming festivities continued with booths set up for commemorative photos, food and AU gear.

Dr. James Lewis to be installed as School of Theology dean

Dr. James W. Lewis will be installed as the dean of the Anderson University School of Theology on Sunday, October 19, 2014.

Dr. James W. Lewis was a successful young CPA with one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms, Arthur Young & Co., when he felt an inexorable call to serve God through ministry.

“I accepted a call to be a follower of Christ, and I also sensed a strong desire to learn more and learn about ministry,” said Lewis, who will be formally installed as dean of the Anderson University School of Theology on Sunday at Park Place Church of God.

The Anderson University Presidential Search Committee, chaired by AU board member Patricia Seasor Bailey, will bring the name of John S. Pistole, J.D. before the Board of Trustees for election as the president of the university on Oct. 27. Pistole most recently announced his retirement as Administrator of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). AU athlete receives Erskine Award of Excellence

AU baseball player Zach Hufferd received the Carl D. Erskine Award of Excellence

The saying is that it is hard to keep a good man down.

Apparently in the case of Anderson University and Zach Hufferd it is also true that it is hard to keep a good man off the baseball diamond.

Hufferd thought his playing days were over two years ago, but on Tuesday he received the Carl D. Erskine Award of Excellence during a Rotary Club meeting at Anderson Country Club.

Hufferd graduated from Connersville High School but chose to go to IPFW to play baseball instead of AU.
