AU women finish 3rd in Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational

Radke_webThe Anderson University women’s track and field team finished third in the 13-team Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Alex Friske was the lone winner for the Ravens. She won the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.33. She was also the runner-up in the 200 meters in 27.16. Her time in the hurdles ranks 31st in the nation.

Other runner-up finishes for the Ravens were Sarah Bromagem in the 800 meters (2:23.12), Candace DeLong in the mile (5:16.59), Emily Radke in the shot put (40-3 1/2) and the 1,600 relay team of Alisha Sink, Heather Quinlan, Bromagem and DeLong (4:18.12).

Radke’s distance in the shot put was a season-best and she ranks 57th in the nation. DeLong’s time was a personal best in the mile.

DePauw won the meet with 108 points, followed by Centre (70) and Anderson (61).

AU competes at the Washington University Invitational on Mar. 23 at 11 a.m.

AU women notch 4th place finish at HCAC Indoor meet

HCAC_womenThe Anderson University women’s track and field team finished fourth at the 10-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday in Terre Haute.

Alex Friske (middle picture) led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the meet. She won the 200 meters in a time of 27.07 and took the 60 hurdles in 9.15. Friske also set the HCAC record in the meet.

Candace DeLong (top picture) won the mile in 5:20.30 and was second in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:44.40. Emily Radke (bottom picture) won the shot put (39-5) and was third in the weight throw (42-10).

Sarah Bromagem (2:24.02) and Heather Quinlan (2:29.75) were third and fifth, respectively, in the 800 meters and the 1,600 relay team was third (4:16.47).

Hanover won the meet with 129 points, followed by Rose-Hulman (128), Franklin (93), Anderson (84), Manchester (53), Defiance (42), Bluffton (40), Transylvania (27), Earlham (16) and Mt. St. Joseph (6).

AU hosts the Fred Wilt Indoor Invitational next Saturday in the Kardatzke Wellness Center at 3 p.m.

Friske wins 60 meters at Raven Indoor Invitational

Radke_webThe Anderson University men’s track and field team competed in the five-team non-scoring Raven Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Alex Friske was the lone individual winner, taking the 60 meter hurdles in 9.31.

Emily Radke had two runner-up finishes in the weight throw (39-9) and shot put (36-6). Other women that finished second were Sarah Bromagem (800 meters, 2:28.71), Heather Quinlan (1,000 meters, 3:15.36) and Candace DeLong (mile, 5:18.57).

Radke’s distance in the shot put is currently the best in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference this season. DeLong’s time in the mile is also the fastest in the conference in 2012.

AU runs in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships next Saturday in Terre Haute at 1 p.m.

Raven women runner-up at AU Indoor meet

Friske_webThe Anderson University women’s track and field team finished second in the five-team AU Indoor Invitational on Saturday at the Kardatzke Wellness Center.

Hanover won the meet with 194 points, followed by Anderson (102), Manchester (99), Earlham (64) and Transylvania (35).

Alex Friske led the Ravens with a pair of victories in the 200 meters (27.68) and 60 hurdles (9.26).

Heather Quinlan (800, 2:29.42) and Emily Radke (SP, 39-7 1/4) also won individual events for the Ravens.

AU hosts the Raven Indoor Invitational next Saturday in the Kardatzke Wellness Center at 3 p.m.

DeLong leads AU women at Indiana Wesleyan

wtrackThe Anderson University women’s track and field team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Marion.

Candace DeLong led the Ravens with a first-place finish in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:48.21.

Other top five finishers for the Ravens were Heather Quinlan in the 600 meters (5th, 1:46.27), Nacole Hamilton in the 1,000 meters (3:45.24) and Alex Friske in the 60 meter hurdles (5th, 9.51).

The Ravens host the AU Indoor Invitational in the Kardatzke Wellness Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Radke, Wells leads AU at Wabash Indoor Invitational

trackEmily Radke and Leonard Wells both notched top-five finishes at the Wabash Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Crawfordsville.

Radke finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 38-11 while Wells was fifth in the shot put with a distance of 46-2.

Other AU men’s finishers were Colton Sewell in the shot put (13th, 37-7) and weight throw (13th, 28-4), Max Kittle in the 60 meters (13th, 8.89), Steven Wingler in the shot put (17th, 32-7), DeTarance Harvey in the weight throw (12th, 32-9), shot put (18th, 21-8) and Brad McNeil in the 60 meters (16th, 9.13) and 200 meters (17th, 24.07).

Other AU women’s finishers were Amanda Spear in the weight throw (13th, 39-3).

AU travels to the Indiana Wesleyan Indoor Invitational on Saturday at noon.

AU sets home track schedule for 2012 season

wellnessThe Anderson University men’s and women’s track and field teams will be hosting three indoor and three outdoor invitationals this spring to highlight the 2012 season.

The three indoor meets will be on Feb. 4, 11 and 25 with the three outdoor meets on Mar. 31, April 5 and 20. The Ravens conclude the respective indoor and outdoor team season schedules at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 18 (Rose-Hulman) and Apr. 27-28 (Franklin).
