Donaghy named to All-HCAC volleyball squad

Donaghy.AlleeAnderson University’s Allee Donaghy was named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball 1st Team on Wednesday.

The senior led the Ravens with 523 digs and also had eight service aces, five kills and four assists in a team-high 98 games played this season.

Tayler Stone and Syndie Garber were named to All-HCAC Honorable Mention and Courtney Carver was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Stone led the Ravens with 221 kills and 262.5 points on the season and was second in blocks (52). The sophomore also had three service aces and two assists in 89 games. Garber had 108 kills, 48 digs, 23 blocks and 16 assists in 78 games played.

Carver played in 55 games, finishing with 83 kills, 20 blocks and three assists.

AU finished the season 12-16 overall and 2-7 in the HCAC.

Ravens finish 2-2 at Illinois Wesleyan volleyball tourney

volleyballThe Anderson University volleyball team defeated Monmouth in five games and IU-Northwest in four games on Friday night in the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational in Bloomington, Ill.

The Ravens defeated Monmouth (25-15, 23-25, 25-20,  24-26, 15-14) and IU-Northwest (24-26, 25-14, 25-14, 25-13) on Friday, but lost to North Park (25-18, 11-25, 25-19, 20-25, 15-11) and Illinois Wesleyan (25-20, 25-20, 25-14) on Saturday.

Against Monmouth, Tayler Stone led the Ravens with 16 kills, six blocks and three digs.

Taylor Cox had 26 assists, 20 digs, two service aces and Jordan Stanley added 21 assists, 16 digs and three service aces. Courtney Carver had nine kills and Allee Donaghy chipped in with 33 digs.

Against IU-Northwest, Stone led the Ravens with 16 kills and Kelly Roberts had nine kills and three blocks. Stanley had 21 assists, 10 digs, two service aces and Cox added 16 assists.

Donaghy had 23 digs and Kata Bawel chipped in with 11 digs. Molly DiRuzza added eight kills.

Against North Park, Stone led the Ravens with 18 kills, eight blocks, two digs, two service points and one service ace.

Carver had 11 kills, two blocks and Kata Bawel had seven kills, nine service points, 18 digs and Jordan Stanley added 26 assists, 15 service points and four digs.

Cox had 23 assists, 11 digs and Sydnie Garber chipped in with five kills, three digs and two blocks. Donaghy added 38 digs and Roberts seven kills, seven digs and two blocks.

Against Illinois Wesleyan, Stone had 10 kills, two digs and Garber five kills. Stanley had 14 assists, seven digs and Cox added nine assists, 10 digs. Donaghy topped the team with 19 digs.

AU finishes the season 12-16 overall and 2-7 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Spartans beat Ravens in 5-set HCAC match

volleyballThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Manchester College in five games on Wednesday night at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena in North Manchester. The scores were 21-25, 25-21, 25-17, 22-25 and 15-9.

Tayler Stone led the Ravens with 11 kills, four blocks and Sydni Garber had nine kills and a block. Kata Bawel had 25 digs, seven kills, three blocks and Allee Donaghy added 34 digs.

Taylor Cox had 23 assists, eight digs and Jordan Stanley chipped in with 21 assists and 10 digs.

AU (10-14, 2-7 HCAC) finishes the season at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Bloomington, Ill.

Goshen beats volleyball team in three games

volleyballThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Goshen College in three games on Monday night in Goshen. The scores were 25-16, 25-20 and 25-23.

Tayler Stone led the Ravens with 11 kills, four digs and two blocks in the match.

Molly DiRuzza had seven kills, six digs, two blocks and Taylor Cox had 16 assists and six digs. Allee Donaghy had 17 digs and Stephanie Weinman added 14 digs and three kills. Jordan Stanley chipped in with 12 assists, five digs.

AU (10-13, 2-6 HCAC) travels to Manchester on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Hanover hands AU homecoming volleyball defeat

DeWitt_webThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference for Hanover College in three games on Saturday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The scores were 27-25, 25-21 and 25-23.

Tayler Stone led the Ravens with 10 kills, three blocks and Kelly Roberts had six kills and two digs.

Stephanie Weinman had 13 digs, six service points, two kills and Allee Donaghy added 16 digs. Jordan Stanley and Taylor Cox chipped in with 14 and 10 assists, respectively.

AU (10-12, 2-6 HCAC) travels to Goshen on Monday at 7 p.m.

Defiance downs Volleyball squad in three games

volleyballThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Defiance College in three games on Tuesday night in Defiance, Ohio. The scores were 25-18, 27-25 and 25-15.

Elizabeth Turner led the Ravens with six kills, two blocks and Tayler Stone had five kills. Jordan Stanley had seven assists, four service aces and Kata Bawel added 10 digs, three service aces and two kills.

Allee Donaghy had 11 digs and Taylor Cox added eight assists, six digs and one service ace.

AU (10-11, 2-5 HCAC) hosts Hanover on Saturday at noon.

volleyballThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Mt. St. Joseph in three games on Saturday at the Harrington Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The scores were 25-21, 25-13 and 25-16.

Elizabeth Turner led the Ravens with nine kills, three blocks and Taylor Cox had 11 assists and seven digs.

Allee Donaghy had 15 digs and Tayler Stone added five blocks.

AU (10-10, 2-4 HCAC) travels to Defiance on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Volleyball team wins HCAC road contest at Earlham

Tayler Stone led the Ravens with eight kills and Elizabeth Turner had six kills and three blocks.

Molly DiRuzza also had six kills and Taylor Cox topped the Ravens with 14 assists and seven digs. Jordan Stanley had 10 assists, five digs, three service aces and Allee Donaghy chipped in with 11 digs.

AU (10-9, 2-3 HCAC) travels to Mt. St. Joseph on Friday at noon.

Transylvania beats AU volleyball team in HCAC match

Perez_webThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference leader Transylvania in three games on Saturday at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The Pioneers won by scores of 25-12, 25-14 and 25-23.

Stephanie Weinman led the Ravens with six kills, 14 digs and four service aces. Courtney Carver had five kills and Allee Donaghy added 25 digs.

Taylor Cox had 11 assists, four digs, three kills and Jordan Stanley chipped in with nine assists.

AU (9-9, 1-3 HCAC) travels to Earlham on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

DiRuzza.webThe Anderson University volleyball team lost to Illinois Wesleyan University in three games on Friday night at O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The scores were 25-22, 26-24 and 27-25.

Taylor Cox led the Ravens with 18 assists, 13 digs, two kills and Stephanie Weinman had 13 digs and five kills.

Tayler Stone led the team with eight kills and two blocks and Molly DiRuzza also had eight kills, two assists and two digs. Jordan Stanley had 12 assists, three digs and Elizabeth Turner added six kills and three digs. Allee Donaghy added 12 digs and Kelly Roberts chipped in with eight digs and four kills.

AU (9-8, 1-2 HCAC) hosts HCAC leader Transylvania on Saturday at noon.
