The Anderson University School of Music has selected Shelby Rhoades to receive the 2010 Outstanding Music Alumni Award and will honor her during its Homecoming Concert, Friday, Oct. 1, 7:30 p.m., at Park Place Church of God in Anderson, Ind. Rhoades graduated from AU in 1996 with a B.A. in piano performance.
AU alumni Dave Frey and Ben McDonald, along with their band, Sidewalk Prophets (sidewalkprophets.com), will return to Anderson University Tuesday, Sept. 28, where they will perform during chapel at 10 a.m. in Reardon Auditorium.
Author Greg Mortenson, social entrepreneur, social advocate and peacemaker, will be featured at Reardon Auditorium at Anderson University on Monday, Sept. 27 from 6:30-8 p.m. through a live telecast from Indianapolis.
Anderson University will host a special address in commemoration of U.S. Constitution Day by AU alum Darrell Miller on Monday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. in the lobby of Reardon Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The second Annual Elizabeth York Children’s Literature Festival will be hosted on Saturday at the Nicholson Library of Anderson University.
A year has passed since Dr. Elizabeth York donated her rare children’s book collection worth over $1 million to the university.
School of Theology Master of Theological Studies student Nicole Rech was named the third recipient of the Jeeninga Fellowship in Archaeology. Students, faculty and staff will have an opportunity on Monday, Sept. 27, to hear a report of her research and experiences in Decker 133 from 6-8:30 p.m.
The Anderson University School of Nursing will honor four individuals during its Homecoming alumni dinner on Friday, Oct. 1.
Award recipients will include Matilda Barber, Lifetime Achievement Award; Lori Keith, Distinguished Alumni Award; Jan Bingle, Friend of Nursing Award; and Jeff Glover, Service to the Community Award.

She is the main character in the new young adult novel, "A Star for Robbins Chapel," written by Anderson University English professor Deborah Miller Fox.
