Anderson University Professor of Biology Dr. Daniel Ippolito is a strong supporter of hands-on teaching methods, believing them to be an essential part of biology education. One method he is currently using in biology classes is stream assessment.
Stream assessment uses local water sources to test the quality of water in a particular area and to determine what organisms inhabit it.
The Indianapolis Colts’ training camp starts in less than a week, and Anderson University is busy preparing its campus for the players’ return.
AU Director of Communications Chris Williams said the university will follow the framework and model used at last year’s camp.

Following reports of an agreement between NFL players and owners, an Indianapolis Colts spokesman confirmed Monday that training camp will start on time Aug. 1.
Avis Roper, director of communication for the Colts, said that training camp will be held at Anderson University, with players reporting as early as Sunday morning.
Current Anderson University sophomores Sarah, Becca, and Jon Hales are on the path to a life of faith and service. Though the Hales have just started their journey here at AU, they have a good idea of what their futures will look like.
While many students at Anderson University are from local towns in Indiana or around the U.S., students from Zambia, the Cayman Islands and at least 40 other countries also study at AU. These students are represented through the International Student Association, which promotes cultural awareness in the Anderson community.
Anderson University is preparing to welcome its fall 2011 incoming class of students with the start of New Student Orientation on Thursday, Aug. 25. According to Dean Branson, associate dean of students, the purpose of new student orientation is “to provide new students and their parents with a structured, comprehensive introduction to opportunities at Anderson University, to assist new students in their transition to the institution, and to integrate them into the life of the community.”
This fall, the Anderson University School of Adult Learning is expanding its programs to include a new degree option in Christian leadership.
In anticipation of the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp, Aug. 1–18, Anderson University is seeking individuals interested in volunteering for Colts Camp. A training session has been added for Thursday, July 21, from 6-8 p.m. on campus.
Five years ago, Trevin Shirey left his hometown of Punxsutawney, Penn., to start his freshman year at Anderson University as an aspiring marketing major. Last year, he moved back to Pennsylvania with a degree in communications and the launch of his career as an Internet marketing specialist. He works for WebpageFX, a leading company in web design and development, search engine optimization, and Internet marketing services.
