May is National Bicycle Month. To celebrate, Ben Orcutt, an Anderson University student, and friends are going to bike everywhere on the third Friday of the month, which is National Bike to Work Day.
The Anderson University men's baseball team had chances in the sixth and seventh inning to take the lead against Marian University (5-12), but failed to do so. The Ravens (12-5) were finally able to break through in the ninth with a walk-off hit to win 3-2 Wednesday at Victory Field.
During the past year, the faculty and staff of the Anderson University School of Adult Learning tackled a service project in support of the American Cancer Society. Using two rocking chairs donated by Lowe’s, each with a nameplate donated by Eckstein’s House of Awards, the group attended Relay For Life with the plan of acquiring signatures on the chairs. They called the project Sign4aCure.
On March 28, 2011, the Anderson University Falls School of Business SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) team was selected as a champion in the regional SIFE competition held in Chicago, Ill.
A new student-led organization at Anderson University was formed recently to advocate on behalf of victims of human trafficking. The group, known as BOUND, seeks to raise awareness about human trafficking through activities such as chapel, documentaries, role-playing, volunteering, and fundraising.
The Kardatzke Wellness Center at Anderson University has promoted campus-wide wellness for the past nine years through a variety of classes and programs. The 132,000-square-foot center includes a natatorium, an indoor track around four full-size basketball courts, a separate gymnasium, a dance studio, a sports medicine center, a fitness center with cardio and weight-training equipment, classrooms, and faculty and staff offices.
The majority of youth ministry students give credit for their decision to enter ministry to youth ministers themselves, according to Dr. Fredrick H. Shively, professor of religion and director of the Anderson University Center for Ministry Education (AUCME).
Keith Sayer, a senior at Anderson University double majoring in Bible and Religion and English, from Mooresville, Ind. was recently selected as the 2011 recipient of the Rev. Billie Roy and Pearl Toon Smith Endowed Christian Education Scholarship Award.
The Anderson University School of Music will hold its annual Spring Into Dance concerts March 25 and 26, 2011. This year’s concerts will offer a wide variety of choreography, ranging from thought-provoking to entertaining. Performances will feature students in the Anderson University dance program, with choreography by AU dance faculty and guest artist Jon Lehrer.
