AU to host fourth annual children’s literature festival

Anderson University will host the fourth annual Elizabeth York Children’s Literature Festival on Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Nicholson Library. The all-day event (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) is free and open to the public.

This year’s festival will bring to the Anderson University campus a number of individuals, including award-winning children's author and Illustrator Claire Ewart, award-winning children's author and Illustrator Keiko Kasza, and Lori Dekydtspotter, IU Lilly Library Rare Books & Special Collections Librarian.

Alumna pursues law school, internship with CMG Worldwide

With her Bachelor of Arts in communication arts and a minor in political science from Anderson University, Elizabeth Vincent is prepared for what opportunities await her. Since graduating in 2011, Vincent enrolled at the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. After just one semester as a law student, she was offered an internship with CMG Worldwide, a marketing law organization.

AU student raises money for wells in Liberia

Muhammad Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Anderson University nursing major Lindsey Jeffers is paying her rent in service to the people of Liberia.

In 2010, Jeffers raised over $2,400 for two fresh water wells to be built in Liberia. These wells will provide a lifetime supply of fresh water for people living in the communities of Zondo and Wayzhon; hundreds of lives have been saved due to her actions.

Anderson University welcomes new students on campus during New Student Orientation beginning Thurs., Aug. 30. This year’s campus theme, "Beyond Me," will focus on the verse, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." (Ephesians 3:20-21).

Outside the front entrance, Amanda Chapman, a 2008 Anderson University graduate, eagerly awaited her fourth-graders, wearing a turquoise flowered dress she’d picked out a month earlier because she thought it made her look welcoming.

By the time a football player is a junior in college, it’s expected that some parts of getting ready for a new season will be old hat and muscle memory will take over where unbridled enthusiasm once reigned supreme.

As the Anderson University Ravens and their new coaching staff led by new coach Bobby Ladner wrapped up Week 1 of training camp, the new voice and energy in camp has many on the team feeling like they’re playing youth football all over again.

Recent Anderson University graduate Andrea Whitacre, an English major, achieved success in numerous ways at AU, including her membership in the honors society Alpha Chi and her leadership as the co-editor of the Andersonian, AU’s student-run newspaper. This spring, Whitacre achieved another award acknowledging her academic accomplishments; she was awarded a fellowship for her graduate school plans at the regional Alpha Chi convention.

The unique global education program allows senior nursing students to travel to different places at a low cost so they can use their gift to provide nursing care for those residents.
