Junior Tyler Dague selected for prestigious internship in New York City

Anderson University junior Tyler Dague, a communication arts major with an arts journalism cognate, will be interning this summer in New York City at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Dague will be working with their Visitors Services Department, giving tours of the facilities, providing pre-show and post-show briefings, working on public relations materials for Lincoln Center's summer festival, and assisting with events.

Anderson University junior Ethan Wells received an Indiana Broadcasters Association (IBA) Scholarship for the fall of 2014.

“I am delighted but not surprised to hear that the Indiana Broadcasters Association have awarded a scholarship to Ethan," said Dr. Don Boggs, professor of communication arts. "He has been a dedicated student and also a valued employee at WQME 98.7 FM. We are fortunate to have him at Anderson University.”

Scholars' Day showcases student work

With project topics ranging from finding joy in Beethoven's ninth symphony to the use of anabolic steroids in sports, there was something for every student at Anderson University's annual day for scholars.

Student United Way to host rummage sale, May 3

Student United Way (SUW) at Anderson University and L’amifidel, a campus social club, will work together to host its first-ever community rummage sale on Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the courtyard behind Smith and Martin Hall on Anderson University’s campus.

Money raised from the sale will help pay for service projects in Madison County.

August Welcome Weekend a time for reconnecting with activities, worship

As Anderson University students pack-up for the end of the semester, the Department of Student Life wants to make certain they are looking ahead to the activities being planned during Welcome Weekend. From August 22 to 24, Welcome Weekend will incorporate activities scheduled for orientation and includes a special night of worship with the group, All Sons and Daughters.

AU recognizes students, faculty, staff, community partners for service

Anderson University recently recognized several students, faculty, and staff for their dedication to community service during the past year.

The 2013-14 Community Partner of the Year was awarded to Dove Harbor. Dove Harbor provides opportunities for students to be involved in programming, interpersonal training, and leadership roles.

“Dove Harbor has greatly assisted in the learning process of several AU students,” said Dr. Shelda Borders, assistant professor of psychology.

Seniors recognized for academic, athletic achievement

Anderson University recognized seniors Logan Hansen, Kayleigh Mower, and Lauren Stephens during honors chapel convocation on April 22, for achieving a 4.0 cumulative GPA during their years at AU. Alexandria Friske and Tyler Ganus were also recognized with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for their academic and athletic accomplishments, campus involvement, and leadership.

AU students giving back to community

For the past five years Anderson University students have been sprucing up the city through the Operation Foundation program.

Jennie McMullen, a student at AU and director of Operation Foundation, said 325 students volunteered this month to pick up trash, rake leaves, paint, mend fences and clean up the hiking and biking trails.

Mayor Kevin Smith presented the students with a Community Service Award on Wednesday.
