Anderson University (Anderson, Indiana) announced today that it has joined as a founding member the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), a nationwide campus-supported network whose purpose is to expand and extend the intellectual and theological exploration of vocation on campuses. NetVUE is a new initiative of the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), a national association of more than 600 independent, liberal arts colleges and universities.

AU School of Theology honored Dr. John D. Fozard with the 2009 Distinguished Ministries Award, Norberto and Julie (Beam) Kurrle with the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award, and Dr. James W. Lewis with the 2009 Distinguished Service Award at the annual SOT Alumni & Friends Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, June 29.

Businesses from a 30-mile radius sent representatives to the Flagship Enterprise Center on Thursday for the center’s first Grow Conference, which presented tools for businesses to survive during an economic drought.
The Grow Conference featured speakers, ranging from Anderson University Falls School of Business Dean Terry Truitt to Continental Inc. owner Judy Nagengast, and workshops on lean operations and quality control. Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman was the keynote speaker during lunch at the conference.

Ben Hayhurst, a graduating senior majoring in Finance, was recently presented with The Wall Street Journal Award during the annual banquet for the Falls School of Business (FSB) at Anderson University. The award is presented each year to an outstanding senior and is the highest honor an FSB student can receive. Hayhurst’s name will be engraved on a plaque in Hardacre Hall with past winners and also included in a full-page article in The Wall Street Journal highlighting students who have received the award across the country.

Anderson University recently announced that Dr. Carl H. Caldwell, retiring Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Dean at Anderson University will address the graduating class of 2009 during commencement exercises, May 9. The 3 p.m. (E.D.T.) program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Speaking during Anderson University’s baccalaureate service will be Rev. Dr. Kerry Robinson, senior pastor of East Side Church of God in Anderson, Ind., and member of the Anderson University Board of Trustees. Baccalaureate will take place earlier that day in Reardon Auditorium at 10 a.m. All events are free and open to the public.

After serving students at Anderson University for 13 years, Carolyn Caldwell, adjunct professor of Accounting in the Falls School of Business, recently announced her retirement at the end of the 2008-2009 school year.
Her passion for teaching Accounting extends beyond her feelings towards the subject matter. For Caldwell, reward and success are measured by students achieving and exceeding their own perceived potentials. One of her key goals in the classroom was to, “Help them learn how to learn and problem solve,” she said.

Five teams of 5 students on a team have been working to help a local business for the past 6 months, and will be presenting their work at the annual AU Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) and the Flagship Enterprise Center Consulting Services Showcase. A panel of local business leaders will evaluate the success of each team and declare a winner, with the top team receiving a $500 cash prize.
