Students recognized at chapel for academic achievement

Eight students were in honored in Reardon Auditorium on April 22 for achieving a 4.0 cumulative GPA during their years at Anderson University. Amy Bader, Andrea Brinkley, Raymond Kenney, Katie Kinman, Rachel Koontz, Candice Lane, Erica Narwold and Carrie Thomas all received awards for their outstanding academic achievement. Jeremiah Townsell and Melenda Hawthorne were also recognized with the Outstanding Senior Athlete Award for their academic success, character, contributions to the campus community, personal growth and athletic achievement.

Alpha Chi student wins national award

Anderson, Ind. — Junior Nicholas Zehner received a national award from The National Council of Alpha Chi. The $1,500 Nolle Scholarship won by Zehner was based on a presentation in philosophy he presented through region five of the national honor society. [Zehner pictured on right.]

AU prepares for graduation weekend, May 9

Anderson University recently announced that Dr. Carl H. Caldwell, retiring Vice-President for Academic Affairs and Dean at Anderson University will address the graduating class of 2009 during commencement exercises, May 9. The 3 p.m. (E.D.T.) program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Speaking during Anderson University’s baccalaureate service will be Rev. Dr. Kerry Robinson, senior pastor of East Side Church of God in Anderson, Ind., and member of the Anderson University Board of Trustees. Baccalaureate will take place earlier that day in Reardon Auditorium at 10 a.m. All events are free and open to the public.

Katherine Hinkley Storer, 2007 management grad

katherineKatherine (Hinkley) Storer, a 2007 AU alumna who majored in global business management and psychology, now works as the purchasing manager for Procter & Gamble. “My passions are people and cultures, and my job enables me to interact with both,” she says.

As purchasing manager, she develops and implements strategy for sourcing fastening materials for the North American Baby, Health, and Home Care businesses.

AU Recognized as a Leader of Educational Excellence

Anderson University has received the designation “College of Distinction” in the newly-released 2008-2009 edition of Colleges of Distinction. Unlike traditional numeric-based college guidebooks, this book recognizes and appeals to students’ unique interests, realizing what may be “the best” college for one student, may be vastly different than the best for another.

AU ranked as a top school by U.S. News and World Report

US News and World Report has again ranked Anderson University among the best universities in the Midwest offering master’s level degree programs. Institutions in this category offer a full range of both undergraduate and master’s level degree programs.  The magazine’s 2008 guide to “America’s Best Colleges” marks the fifth consecutive year that Anderson University has been listed among the best in its class.

AU and students prepare for summer classes

summer.jpgAnderson University is looking ahead to a full slate of classes offered this summer for interested students. AU will offer four, 4-week sessions that provide flexibility and variety. Sessions provide both introductory and advanced courses on campus for specific majors and enrichment purposes. Classes began May 12.

Thousands of people still hustled to find their seats in Ward Fieldhouse as the color guard presented the flags to begin the ceremony.

AU announces new majors in 2008-2010 Academic Catalog

catalog.jpgAU announced the addition of several new majors with the release of the 2008-2010 Academic Catalog, including the addition of a Global Business major, an Entrepreneurship major and a Youth Ministry major. Other changes include the restructuring of the Department of Communication Arts and the option for dual licensing through the English as a New Language (ENL) program.

Morris, Special Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and President for Pacers Sports and Entertainment and former Executive Director for the United Nations World Food Programme, will address the graduating class of 2008 during commencement exercises, May 10. The 3 p.m. EDT program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Speaking during Anderson University’s baccalaureate service will be Rev. Kimberly Majeski, campus pastor at Anderson University. Baccalaureate will take place earlier that day in Reardon Auditorium at 10 a.m. All events are free and open to the public.
