AU senior Daniel Kelsey receives Christian education scholarship

Daniel Kelsey, a senior at Anderson University majoring in Christian ministries and youth leadership-development, from Covington, Ind., was recently selected as the 2012 recipient of the Billie Roy and Pearl Toon Smith Endowed Christian Education Scholarship Award. The $5,800 scholarship was presented to Kelsey on March 20 by the Religious Studies Department during a special luncheon in the Olt Student Center.

Carl Erskine to address AU grads at commencement, May 5

Anderson University recently announced that Dr. Carl Erskine, Dodger baseball legend and trustee emeritus of Anderson University, will address the graduating class of 2012 during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 5. The 3 p.m. (EDT) program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center. Speaking during Anderson University’s baccalaureate service will be the Rev. Grant A. Horner, senior pastor at Eastland Church of God in Lexington. Ky. Baccalaureate will take place earlier that day in Reardon Auditorium at 10 a.m. All events are free and open to the public.

Admissions to host Academic Departmental Open House

The Anderson University Office of Admissions will host a campus-wide Academic Departmental Open House on Friday, March 30, from 3-5 p.m.

The event, the first of its kind at AU, will offer prospective students the opportunity to interact with professors and current students, tour departments, and explore different areas of study at AU.

AU student involvement in after-school program helps kids succeed

Hosting a program designed to feed the minds, bodies and souls of area children, Allen Chapel Fellowship Hall dedicates three nights a week to any young person who knocks on the front door. Not only do volunteers supply dinner, tutoring and a literacy program, they even add an enrichment component to the evening.

Dr. Marie Morris named provost at Anderson University

The Anderson University Board of Trustees recently announced that Dr. Marie S. Morris has been named provost for the university, effective immediately. As provost, Morris reports to the president and will serve as chief academic officer for academic programs (excluding the School of Theology) and provide administrative oversight for areas including educational support services, information technology services, intercultural studies, Nicholson Library, registrar’s office, institutional strategic planning, and institutional research and effectiveness.

U.S. News and World Report ranks AU among top Midwest universities

Anderson University (Anderson, Ind.) once again earned a place in the top tier among Regional Universities – Midwest in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2012 guidebook. The exclusive rankings, which include more than 1,400 schools nationwide, are available today online, and will also be published in U.S. News & World Report, on newsstands starting September 20. This marks the eighth consecutive year AU has been ranked among the nation’s best colleges.

Forbes.com names Anderson University one of America’s Top Colleges

For the first time, Forbes.com has named Anderson University one of America’s Top Colleges.

Forbes.com included only the top 20 percent of all undergraduate institutions in the 2011 rankings. The rankings were prepared by the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP).
