Men’s soccer celebrates 20th anniversary

msoccerThe Anderson University men’s soccer team will have a 20-year celebration event on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Kardatzke Wellness Center at 7:30 p.m.

The 2009 team will be hosting the reception, which will honor all the past players and teams and be proceeded by a short program.

On Saturday, Oct. 10, there will be an alumni came at 9:30 a.m., followed by the men’s game against Transylvania at 3 p.m. At halftime of the game, they will recognize the original 1989 team.

As one of the youngest NCAA III teams, AU has achieved many accolades from two conference championships (2000, 2004), two tournament championships (2000, 2002), an NSCAA Ethics Award and 12 consecutive years awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award. Individually the program has had 38 All-Conference players, 44 Academic All-Conference players, three HCAC MVPs and two Freshmen of the Year.

Boberg named to All-HCAC men’s soccer team

Anderson University’s Peter Boberg was named to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer team for the 2008 season.

Boberg led the Ravens with nine assists and 17 points and was third with four goals.

David Briscoe and Matt Young were named All-HCAC Honorable Mention. Briscoe was second on the team with five goals and fourth with 13 points. Young added four goals, three assists and 11 points, which was fifth on the team.

AU finished the season 8-11-1 overall and 5-3 in the HCAC.
