Lewis Gymnasium.

Ashley Wuestefeld led the Ravens with a career-high 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, hitting 7-of-13 field goals, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Kate Barwick also had a career-high in points and rebounds, finishing with 12 points, 11 boards and five steals, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Jenna Wittenberg also reached double figures off the bench, finishing with 14 points in just 18 minutes, hitting 4-of-8 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws, including a pair of 3-pointers.

“Barwick was great and Wittenburg, too,” said AU coach Marcie Taylor. “But Kate especially, she’s just grown so much. She’s a senior now and has grown so much in four years in stamina and the ability to play as many minutes as she did. Last year, she probably would’ve been challenged to have stamina for 12 minutes.”

Amy Wuestefeld added seven points, four rebounds, three assists and Brittany Stafford chipped in with a 3-pointer, five rebounds and three assists.

There were 13 lead changes and six ties in the game with the Ravens taking the lead for good on a layup by Barwick at 48-46 with 4:30 left in the game. Barwick gave AU a 5-point lead with a 3-pointer on the next possession, but Olivet cut the lead to 51-50 with a minute left.

Ashley Wuestefeld hit a baseline jumper with 30 seconds left to give the Ravens a 3-point lead and a missed 3-pointer by the Comets sealed the victory.

AU shot 39 percent from the field compared to just 35 percent for Olivet. The Comets had a 46-31 advantage on the boards and also led in points in the paint (20-16) and second chance points (20-16), but the Ravens had the edge in assists (16-12), turnovers (17-23), points off turnovers (24-11) and steals (14-10).

“The question mark for us has been where are our points going to come from consistently,” Taylor said. “You know, we had a little bit of that dry spell (tonight). I think we’re now starting to find out, figure it out, but yes, it makes you nervous.”

AU (1-0) hosts Calvin (2-0) in the final game of the AU Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday at 4 p.m.
