			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Anderson University women&#8217;s cross country team finished fifth at the nine-team Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday in Cincinnati, Ohio.</p>
<p>Erica Moffitt led the Ravens with an eighth place finish in a time of 24:43 and was named All-Conference. Ashley Bordner was named HM All-Conference after finishing 17th in a time of 25:16.</p>
<p>Other AU finishers were Candace DeLong (24th, 26:07), Courtney Clevenger (33rd, 26:56), Ashley Casterline (38th, 27:11), Kristen Reiff (39th, 27:21), Kayla Miller (50th, 27:58) and Laura Sussman (67th, 30:07).</p>
<p>Manchester won the championship with 38 points, followed by Franklin (44), Rose-Hulman (70), Hanover (114), Anderson (117), Defiance (155), Transylvania (161), Bluffton (219) and Mt. St. Joseph 274).</p>

<p>&#8220;Our ladies did what they could,&#8221; said AU coach Scott Wilson. &#8220;In a meet like this vs. Div. I schools we don&#8217;t score well, but it is an opportunity to test yourself against very good runners. Anytime you are challenged in a good way you can learn from it to make yourself better. They are doing that so that is a step forward.&#8221;</p>

<p>Erica Moffitt led the Ravens with a 32nd place finish in a time of 20:47. Other AU finishers were Candace DeLong (39th, 20:58), Casey Gillespie (54th, 21:46), Courtney Clevenger (55th, 21:47), Ashley Bordner (57th, 21:48), Kristen Reiff (58th, 21:49) and Kayla Miller (73rd, 22:31).</p>
<p>&#8220;This was a good test for us,&#8221; said AU coach Scott Wilson. &#8220;It was good to see our team in action over a full length (8K) and we will get better over the course of the season. We are training pretty well so we hope to see progress in the coming weeks. Erica had a solid performance to lead our team.&#8221;</p>
<p>AU runs next at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.</p>

<p>&#8220;We gave a good effort,&#8221; said coach Scott Wilson. &#8220;The teams here today are good, but at looking at our individual results we did ok.  This meet is part of the process of training and racing.  We just need to keep working at it each day.   We get to test ourselves at real race distance at our next meet.&#8221;</p>
<p>AU runs at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet in Terre Haute on Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m.</p>

<p>Other AU finishers were Eric Linn (13th), Matt St. Amour (15th) and Drew Beaty (17th).</p>
<p>&#8220;It was good to get out there and race,&#8221; said coach Scott Wilson. &#8220;I liked how we did given the circumstances.  We should be an imporved team this fall.  We are young so we need to learn some things, but there is good potential.&#8221;</p>

Mollie ran an impressive race and Erica Moffitt had her best race. With our whole team back next year, our future looks bright.&#8221;</p>
<p>Other AU finishers were Erica Moffitt (22nd, 25:10), Abigail Ingalls (34th, 26:15), Kaitlyn Gingerich (39th, 26:36) and Jenna Milazzo (42nd, 26:50).</p>
<p>Franklin won the championship with 45 points, followed by Manchester (49) and Anderson (77). Rose-Hulman was fourth (115), Hanover fifth (126), Mt. St. Joseph sixth (172), Transylvania seventh (179), Defiance eighth (198) and Bluffton last (252).</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt"><span id="more-2228"></span>The senior cross country standout helped lead Anderson to its sixth straight conference championship and an eight place finish in the Great Lakes Regional held on November 10.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt">Kemple earned a second place finish in the Great Lakes Regional, finishing the 6K course in a time of 21:31.95.  Her effort propelled her to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships which were held in Northfield, Minnesota on November 17.</span><strong> </strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong></strong><span style="font-size: 11pt">The senior standout earned All-American honors with her 33<sup>rd</sup> place finish in the November 17 meet, claiming a time of 22:08.00 among the nation’s best runners. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt">Gwen is the sixth Anderson athlete to be named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Month, and is the second women’s cross country runner to earn the award.  Hanover’s Leah Peelman earned the honor twice during the fall of 2005.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 11pt">The HCAC Player of the Month award is in its third year of existence. The award is voted on by the sports information directors of each member institution.</span></p>
