Erica Moffitt led the Ravens with an eighth place finish in a time of 24:43 and was named All-Conference. Ashley Bordner was named HM All-Conference after finishing 17th in a time of 25:16.

Other AU finishers were Candace DeLong (24th, 26:07), Courtney Clevenger (33rd, 26:56), Ashley Casterline (38th, 27:11), Kristen Reiff (39th, 27:21), Kayla Miller (50th, 27:58) and Laura Sussman (67th, 30:07).

Manchester won the championship with 38 points, followed by Franklin (44), Rose-Hulman (70), Hanover (114), Anderson (117), Defiance (155), Transylvania (161), Bluffton (219) and Mt. St. Joseph 274).

In their last race, the men finished second in the eight-team Manchester College Invitational on Oct. 17 in North Manchester. The Raven women were fourth at the meet.

Taylor Holmes led the Ravens with a fifth place finish in a time of 26:36 and Kirk Saunders was right behind him in sixth place in 26:38. Bil Digman was also in the top 10 with a ninth place finish (26:53).

Other AU men’s finishers were Emby Duncan (23rd, 27:58), Andrew Abbott (25th, 28:06), Eric Linn (29th, 28:20), Drew Beaty (33rd, 28:32), Marc St. Amour (35th, 28:35), Matt St. Amour (43rd, 29:01) and Dan Malloy (59th, 31:20).

“We made a step forward with this meet,” said AU coach Scott Wilson. “We had several people run personal bests today, which was good to see.  We have two more weeks to conference and I think that we can make another step forward for that meet.”

Candace DeLong led the Ravens with a 112th place finish in a time of 20:08. Other AU finishers were Erica Moffitt (120th, 20:38), Ashley Bordner (127th, 21:11), Courtney Clevenger (133rd, 21:49), Kayla Miller (134th, 22:11) and Sydni Terrill (136th, 23:51).

“Our ladies did what they could,” said AU coach Scott Wilson. “In a meet like this vs. Div. I schools we don’t score well, but it is an opportunity to test yourself against very good runners. Anytime you are challenged in a good way you can learn from it to make yourself better. They are doing that so that is a step forward.”

AU runs at the Manchester Invitational on Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.

Erica Moffitt led the Ravens with a 32nd place finish in a time of 20:47. Other AU finishers were Candace DeLong (39th, 20:58), Casey Gillespie (54th, 21:46), Courtney Clevenger (55th, 21:47), Ashley Bordner (57th, 21:48), Kristen Reiff (58th, 21:49) and Kayla Miller (73rd, 22:31).

“This was a good test for us,” said AU coach Scott Wilson. “It was good to see our team in action over a full length (8K) and we will get better over the course of the season. We are training pretty well so we hope to see progress in the coming weeks. Erica had a solid performance to lead our team.”

AU runs next at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2 at 2 p.m.

AU women finishers were DeLong/Moffitt (6th), Bordner/Reiff (13th) and Terrill/Clevenger (21st). DeLong ran mile times of 5:58, 5:58 and Moffitt’s marks were 6:11 and 6:16.

AU men finishers were Saunders/Wyatt (8th), Duncan/Dougherty (14th) and Holmes/Digman (15th). Sanders ran mile times of 4:56, 4:52, 4:50 while Wyatt’s marks were 4:57, 5:06 and 5:02.

“We gave a good effort,” said coach Scott Wilson. “The teams here today are good, but at looking at our individual results we did ok.  This meet is part of the process of training and racing.  We just need to keep working at it each day.   We get to test ourselves at real race distance at our next meet.”

AU runs at the Indiana Intercollegiate meet in Terre Haute on Sept. 18 at 3:30 p.m.

Candace DeLong finished third to lead the AU women in a time of 19:21 on the 2.90 mile course.

Other AU finishers were Erica Moffitt (6th, 20:01), Ashley Bordner (8th, 20:35), Kristen Reiff (11th, 20:53), Casey Gillespie (12th, 20:54), Sydni Terrill (15th, 22:06), Courtney Clevenger (18th, 22:02), Kayla Miller (21st, 23:18) and Laura Sussman (24th, 25:31).

Kirk Saunders led the men with a second place finish in 15:34 against the Alumni team.  Top 10 AU finishers were Jake Wyatt (15:43), Bill Dugman (15:48), Taylor Holmes (15:59), Ryan Daugherty (16:07, Emby Duncan (16:08), Matt Dougherty (16:13), Andrew Abbott (16:26) and Jeff Vibbert (16:47).

Other AU finishers were Eric Linn (13th), Matt St. Amour (15th) and Drew Beaty (17th).

“It was good to get out there and race,” said coach Scott Wilson. “I liked how we did given the circumstances.  We should be an imporved team this fall.  We are young so we need to learn some things, but there is good potential.”

Kristen Reiff finished sixth in a time of 24:19 to lead the Ravens and was named All-Conference.

Candace DeLong (24:21) and Mollie Ringer (24:25) were also named All-HCAC after finishing eighth and ninth, respectively. DeLong was named Freshman of the Year for her efforts.

“I was proud of the way our ladies ran,” said coach Scott Wilson. “Kristen earned all-conference for the first time and Candace finished well and was all-conference, which is a great accomplishment. Mollie ran an impressive race and Erica Moffitt had her best race. With our whole team back next year, our future looks bright.”

Other AU finishers were Erica Moffitt (22nd, 25:10), Abigail Ingalls (34th, 26:15), Kaitlyn Gingerich (39th, 26:36) and Jenna Milazzo (42nd, 26:50).

Franklin won the championship with 45 points, followed by Manchester (49) and Anderson (77). Rose-Hulman was fourth (115), Hanover fifth (126), Mt. St. Joseph sixth (172), Transylvania seventh (179), Defiance eighth (198) and Bluffton last (252).

Anderson

The senior cross country standout helped lead Anderson to its sixth straight conference championship and an eight place finish in the Great Lakes Regional held on November 10.

Kemple earned a second place finish in the Great Lakes Regional, finishing the 6K course in a time of 21:31.95.  Her effort propelled her to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships which were held in Northfield, Minnesota on November 17.

The senior standout earned All-American honors with her 33^rd place finish in the November 17 meet, claiming a time of 22:08.00 among the nation’s best runners.

Gwen is the sixth Anderson athlete to be named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Month, and is the second women’s cross country runner to earn the award.  Hanover’s Leah Peelman earned the honor twice during the fall of 2005.

The HCAC Player of the Month award is in its third year of existence. The award is voted on by the sports information directors of each member institution.
